"saying something about we have established a Shiite gov in Iraq - just like they have in Iran. We have eliminated Iran's enemy - Saddam and the Bath party."

LOL. Since Shiites comprise 89% of the Iranian electorate (compared to 9% Sunni), why shouldn't Iran have a Shiite government? Besides, Iran is a theocracy, not a democracy.

"At the end of my freshman year - when the Shah was over thrown - these men were told to return to Iran. When they got home - they were executed - along with most of their families - it was a tragedy I will never forget."

Even after all these years, testimony like yours is still heartbreaking. We should never let the world forget the hell Carter wrought in in Iran, or that ALL of us are still paying a price for it.

Publicly and privately, Gary Williams is a gentleman, an honest man,

My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Williams many years ago at an American University Alumni reception after a game against Havard. He talked with us for a couple of minutes, about 110 seconds more time we would have gotten from any other Division 1 coach.

"It's a hoot... Limbaugh has his people monitor FR for his 'stack-of-stuff'. Howie Carr often refers to what's 'being said' on FreeRepublic.... if it's worth knowing... IT'S HERE."

And Tony Snow also checks out FR; and, in fact, responds to posts on the Tony Snow Talk Show Thread every day (which is great). I think Sean and Mark Levin also at least lurk (IIRC Mark posts from time to time as well).

I went to DU once about a year ago, but after reading a couple of posts, I had to get out fast. It wouldn't surprise me if the 'hosts' on Airhead America check out and post on DU for their talking points (not to mention getting them from DNC faxes). Also, I believe Rush pointed out that the NY Slimes and others and the Dim congresscritters get their talking points from Daily Kos.

Morning OldFriend,

Sen. Durbin was on FNS a bit ago here and made the claim that Clinton approached congress to change FISA to allow his breakin of Aldrich Aimes home. Is that right? Do you, or anyone else, remember that?

His inference was Clinton went to congress for approval while Bush has not. This just does not sound right to me. Maybe I missed something?

"Wish Spencer would get on some of the TV and radio shows.
He's very intelligent and is on her case just about every single day."

Yes, so far, I've been impressed w him having the cajones to go up against Hitlery. Here are a couple of recent examples:

SENATOR CLINTON ACCEPTS MONEY FROM SUPPORTERS OF IRANIAN MULLAHS (John Spencer Slaps Hill)
John Spencer for Senate ^ | 1/19/06

Yonkers, NY – Senator Clinton has accused President Bush of downplaying the threat from Iran while accepting money from supporters of the Iranian regime.

Wealthy businessmen Hassan Nemazee and Faraj Aalaei are associated with the American Iranian Council, a pro-regime anti-sanctions group. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Namazee has contributed $4,000 to Clinton's reelection while Aalaei has given $1,000.

The press describes their lobby this way "the American-Iranian Council [AIC], a pro-regime lobbying group trying to get Congress and the Bush administration to lift the trade embargo on Iran." (Insight, 3/25/04)

Hillary Clinton is also raising money from Gati Kashani, another figure linked with the Mullahs.

Spencer wants Clinton ``plantation'' apology on Senate floor
Newsday ^ | January 18, 2006 | NA

Posted on 01/18/2006 8:21:35 PM PST by neverdem

Associated Press

ALBANY, N.Y. -- A potential Republican challenger called Wednesday for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to "do the honorable thing" and take to the Senate floor to apologize for saying the GOP-controlled House of Representatives is "run like a plantation."

The former first lady's claim came Monday during an appearance at a Martin Luther King Day event in New York City and has drawn complaints from several Republicans. Current first lady Laura Bush said Wednesday the remark was "ridiculous."

"Senator Clinton's race baiting by comparing the U.S. Congress to a plantation exploits those who suffered under slavery and it trivializes the brutality of a dark period in American history," said potential Clinton challenger John Spencer.

Great post Jake.
That is probably our best bet in Iran and hopefully our intelligence agencies are on the job.
The only successful way to change Iran is from within. It won't be easy though, rumors are it a very repressive state that the mullahs are running. And you have lots of wack-jobs in power who want to take the country back to the 1500/1600's, real nut cases.
