For the young ones, no First Lady has ever been vilified to the degree that Mrs. Reagan was. As an oncology nurse on that, I believe Friday evening, when she was publicly announced to have been diagnosed with breast cancer, I cried and cried. So much was discussed about her looks and style, all critical, though she was in her sixties. I thought of the road ahead with chemo/rad, etc. and the public's response. On Monday, if I remember correctly, she had already had the radical. There were things to do.

"How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin."
And how do you tell a modern American leftist? It's someone who reveres Marx and Lenin without reading them.

One of my favorite RR quotes:

"So so." That was his reply to this question:

"How did your meeting go with Bishop Tutu?"

Gotta love The Gipper.

Thanks for the speech of Point Du Hoc, C4B.

First time I've ever read it. It was wonderful.

Karen, I hadn't seen this.

Thanks for the ping!

I took my son, then a 5 year old, to D.C. to view him Lying in State at the Rotunda. Got there at 10:30 pm. Made it to the Rotunda at 5:30 am.

It was more than worth it.

I loved his wit and optimism. My favorite one is after he got shot and said something like, "I hope you are all Republicans."

Some people spend a lifetime wondering if they made a difference, Marines don't have that problem. Mr. Reagan said that too!

Listening to the liberals, you'd think that the 1980s were the worst period since the Great Depression, filled with suffering and despair. I don't know about you, but I'm getting awfully tired of the whining voices from the White House these days. They're claiming there was a decade of greed and neglect, but you and I know better than that. We were there
