PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The President arrived back at the White House from Camp David this afternoon, as his wife and daughter arrived safely in Ghana on their first leg of a visit to Africa. Along with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, on Monday they will head the official delegation to the inauguration of Liberia's first woman president.
In Texas, the President's father, former President GHW Bush, was on hand to christen the USS San Antonio, the first in the Navy's new class of amphibious landing ships. The former president was the keynote speaker.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
During an interview with the press corps on her plane, the First Lady discussed several topics, including the following:
Laura Bush begins visit to West AfricaACCRA, Ghana (AP) First lady Laura Bush said Sunday that the U.S. government is right to eavesdrop on Americans with suspected ties to terrorists, and that President Bush worries that revelations about the domestic spying program will cripple efforts to foil terrorists.
"I think the American people expect the United States government and the president to do what they can to make sure there's not an attack by foreign terrorists," Mrs. Bush said just before landing here to begin a four-day stay in West Africa.
"I think he was worried that it would undermine our efforts by alerting terrorists to what our efforts are," she said.
Thank you
It's always good to see you, Sara.

I must admit I was not good with vegetables as a child but in the last 10 years I seem to enjoy them more.
I now eat with some pleasure, parsnips, carrots, cabbage, brocolli and peas.
Hi Pol. Thanks for letting me know. You wouldn't happen to know what Jenna's up to these days. Haven't seen pics of her in awhile.
I remember that I think that was about the first day of the trip and then after that there were not anymore photos of Barbra if I remember it correctly.
I am happy to be with you all!!!!
I can do the root veggies like parsnips. I love carrots because they're sweet. Strangely, I also like cabbage. But most of the time I must consciously put vegetables in my meals.
As far as I aware Jenna is still teaching in Washington unless anyone else knows anything different
That new amphibian troop carrier is huge ... AND I've made that broccoli salad .. it's delicious. I usually use some walnuts and a pinch of sugar, too. It's even better made the night before, with the flavors merging in the fridge.
"Wow, what a weekend for football, with great games!"
Yes, and, as you can imagine I was especially THRILLED with the outcome of 1 of them!! ;-)
The 20-year drought was broken (football-wise). However, in other parts of the city, we're certainly not in a drought - -in a few more days we may break the # of consecutive days for rain. Think I may be going to Home Depot to buy lumber and looking up plans on the Internet for how to build an ark!
Thanks for the great pictures, Wolfstar!
It was a great game. As a Cowboys fan, I wasn't really rooting for either team, but if I had to pick one it would have been the Colts. The Steelers are an old Cowboys nemesis.
Hi there...
Ok .. let's see. How about a big plasma screen TV with that cute picture of Pres. Bush a day or so ago, the closeup of his face when he was winking (and I don't know at who;). I thought that was adorable.
Grin...you need to send some of that rain down the coast to L.A. It's been a too-dry winter here so far.
Hi Kate. How goes it in your town tonight?
then after that there were not anymore photos of Barbra if I remember it correctly.
Hi snugs, I think you are correct.
Hope you and your dad are doing well. Think of you both.
It was on yesterday's dose, but I need little excuse to post it again:
Haven't seen anything about Jena of late.
Understand she is doing teaching in DC
Getting time to listen to Drudge and check on the
live thread.
I have always been a Cowboys fan, but love the SeaHawks, too. When I lived in WA State my roomie was a travel agent, and I got to go on some of the buses to the Kingdome as a chaperone several times. I was very excited about Seattle's win yesterday after a 20-year drought!
I had heard that it's now something like 27 or 28 straight days of rain?
