QUOTE OF THE DAY:
During an interview with the press corps on her plane, the First Lady discussed several topics, including the following:
Laura Bush begins visit to West AfricaACCRA, Ghana (AP) First lady Laura Bush said Sunday that the U.S. government is right to eavesdrop on Americans with suspected ties to terrorists, and that President Bush worries that revelations about the domestic spying program will cripple efforts to foil terrorists.
"I think the American people expect the United States government and the president to do what they can to make sure there's not an attack by foreign terrorists," Mrs. Bush said just before landing here to begin a four-day stay in West Africa.
"I think he was worried that it would undermine our efforts by alerting terrorists to what our efforts are," she said.

Thanks for the pics, Wolfstar......sorry I had to rush off to fix a quick dinner.....and chat with hubby.....who thinks I spend WAAAYYYY too much time at the "boob tube" as he calls my computer screen......He's right.....less time is coming....darn......but, I will watch for the DOSE!!!
Isn't THIS a great -- my booboo
Is it "cold" in your area.....OR...did something awful happen.....you said "chilling" so I'm not sure....
I am watching the second hour right now...
I am, as are a lot of FReepers. There's a live thread going on now about the season opener.
I watched a few games with hubby but generally am always puzzled why some women seem to really like football.
We just became a 2 TV family for the first time for Christmas and just knowing I am not locked out of the TV for long stretches of time while this playoff season or that final four season, etc. etc. goes on has been a liberating feeling.
I guess I'll have to root for the West Coast team.
Don't want to spoil the 24 season opener so I'll refrain from peeking at the thread.
Probably will have fun going back and reading it as a lurker.
Seattle is VERY EXCITED about being in the Playoffs....we're hoping they don't blow it....I don't know much about football....mostly just follow it when it gets interesting.....like during playoffs.....LOL....when my husband gets interested.
It's what passes for cold where I live in the L.A. basin. Low 40's. After that post, I noticed I typed "chilling" when I meant to type "chilly." Sigh. The fingers are already complaining about going back to work tomorrow. (Excuses, excuses.)
I don't know "Jack" about the Panthers, but hubby was saying earlier he might be reduced to supporting Obama v. Cantwell.
Blech! That's no choice at all.
THANK YOU for the brocoli salad recipe. I've already saved it. I like your addition of walnut pieces, too.
YAY PANTHERS!! (Sorry...it's the closest football team to SC. Most people here are fans.)
My dad loved all sports, and for some reason football, most notably the Dallas Cowboys and coach Tom Landry, caught my eye while watching with my dad, and I've loved The Boys ever since. Used to watch college football and pro and college basketball, but I watch all sports during the playoffs.
I can understand your feelings of liberation, though!
Who is going to be in the Super Bowl?
Until today I would have said the Colts. It would be fun if it were Seattle and Pittsburgh so it could be a East vs. West game.
BBRRRRRRR....that IS cold for LA isn't it......we're in the upper 30's tonight, here.....and it's supposed to....guess what???? RAIN!
