Which is why I think that Stevens might well retire next year...

I hope so. In fact, if he decides to retire, I hope it's this year, not in '07, although he may not want to do it before the congressional elections.

As for Sheets, although I try hard not to wish bad things to happen to anyone, if the actuarial tables catch up to him soon, I won't be sorry.

Well duh! Liberals calling liberal senators are only 55-60 percent against Alito. This should be telling someone something.

Since when have we begun to believe Democrats on here?

They don't really feel they won, but they can say that to their moonbat supporters and they will believe it's victory.
But the dem senators know full well they're screwed. The public(minus the moonbats)will see the dems for what they are and this will backfire, imho.

They've shot their load.

The fact that Biden-as clueless as he is-realizes that they embarrassed themselves this past week is only one indication of that.

Agree totally. If this were a prize fight it would have been called in round one. I was glad to see it continue and see the Democrats get pummeled mercilessly.

Alito is equal to Roberts in intelligence and knowledge, but just doesn't have as nice a suit to testify in.

Absolutely. I sensed that when he was quoted as saying that these hearings are broken, when it was he himself and the rest of the Democrat clowns on the committee that broke things down, misbehaved beyond the pale, and looked like complete fools in front of a nation.

The Dems do not want a filibuster. It would be a horrible "real precedence" and likely to wind up in the Supreme Court. History is against them. While it may be used in Legislative matters (their own rules), the Constitution is very clear on a simple majority on these nominations.

THEY WANT THE WHITEHOUSE AND THE MAJORITY".This is only showtime for the organizations that fund and nothing more. Their "Witnesses" say it all".

It'll be along party lines...with maybe 15 crossovers...which will benefit the crossovers. Remember, there are a lot of Dems in some states who DON'T believe in killing babies or gay marriage, etc..

LOL. If this John Flym was the best they could do, they are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

I heard a guy on C-Span say there would be a delay because they never like the minority party to be upset (or some such nonsense) but then I heard Specter (SP?) say it won't be delayed. Anyone know for sure? The sooner they vote, the less chance for these idiots to mount a campaign against their senators. I don't have much chance with Dodd and Lieberman but I'll call anyway.

It's become apparent to me this past week, that these leftist-front groups and the Democrats in power are not on the same page, and the front groups are livid.

I'm just irritated with the lack of stones that Frist runs the Senate. The Dems are planning on obstructing everything from now until 08 and they should not be surprised by any parlor trick they use from now until then.
My friends back in DC are proud of that strategy and believe that it makes them look good.

>Leaky is now slamming Hatch about the Clinton nominees<

For what? The Democrats controlled the Senate when Ginsberg and Breyer were confirmed. The only justices on the Court that were confirmed by Republican-controlled Senates were Roberts and O'Conner/Alito.
