Day 4: Hearing Resumes
This morning, Senators will question Judge Alito during a third round. They will then go into a closed session, to review the FBI background investigation on the Supreme Court nominee. Outside witnesses may be called to testify this afternoon, as well as the American Bar Association, to discuss its recommendations.

"So, what do they do in Executive session?"
A big daisy chain.
It's all about "feelings", ya know, like "serandipty" and "empathy", ya know, not about what the law dictates, ya know.

Off and on at Fox, I think CNN and MSNBC were pretty much wall-to-wall and Jeffrey Toobin get the award for asking the dumbest question of the day IMHO.
lol, that could be but my theory is he wants to wear a dress..in public..at the hearings.
LOL
Oh, yes. That was an oversight on my part. I apologize.
"That's what's important to him. He could care less about having qualified people serving on the Supreme Court"
In his mind, any judge who rules to the right of center is unqualified.
FOX News didn't cover any of it. Fred Graham looked deflated on CTV, and the two worst channels on the planet went wall-to-wall, except when Wolf Blitzer had to interrupt things on CNN to remind people he has this show call The Situation Room, and this wall that is transformed into a TV.
Excuse me... is the caller reading?
DNC T-A-L-K-I-N-G points, no way!!!!
Yup, from the third grade, and now, adding penalties and interest it amounts to a FELONY!
What DUmmies will think.
Wait... That was a CURRENT picture?
And, no, this isn't a joke... heard it on a talk show this weekend.
Well, there truly is no creature lower than a liberal. Our "friends" at DU are bashing her for being upset about the horrible things those a-holes are accusing her husband of. Here's the thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2363715#2363716
And here are a couple of their brilliant comments:
This was a set up to distract from the nazi on trial I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was orchestrated by Rove. We need to keep hammering the prick and filibuster if necessary. Cry me a river honey.
Wow a stepford wife that cries what will they think of next.
She's a F-----G WHOOOR!E!! Plain and simple, she's a F-----G WHOOORE. (I had to edit the original comments)
I think she cried because she secretly agrees that her husband has not supported women's rights. She is ashamed of his involvement with CAP and has tried unsuccessfully to get him to come around on women's issues for years. When Graham apoligized, she was thinking "my pig of a husband doesn't deserve an apology," and all of her frustration was released in tears. That's my theory and I'm sticking with it. Spread it around.
These "people" (and I use the term loosely) are beneath contempt.
I switch to Fox for breaks. The callers are usually stupid.
"the harebrained son"
The brain of a rabbit?
Yes, and she did so because Leahy and Specter had a joint press conference in which they criticized her for her remarkably bad responses to their questionare, Leahy noting that this was the first time a nominee had EVER had their homework sent back for a do-over.
Up to that point, she was on track for her hearings. Once it was clear the judicial committee leadership of both parties found her answers unacceptable, Miers really had no choice but to withdraw. And Bush had to accept that withdraw, even though he had, up until that point, expressed confidence in her.
Maybe Leahy doesn't remember the members of his own party attacking her for being Bush's personal lawyer, or how this was just a "cronyism" pick.
I suspect that it was all Karl Rove's doing--Harriet Miers was intended to be a red herring, and when the GOP 'turned' against her, it gave the Dems/Libs false encouragement that they thought they could use in attacking any future nominee--Judge Alito was the true nominee all along, and this was all meant to draw out the overconfident libs into making fools of themselves on national television (and on the world wide 'net).
That's my take, and I'm sticking to it.
;-)
That's what it smelled like to me...
So now the rest of the hearings will be testimony from such diverse groups as Now, PAW, and Dykes on Bikes against Alito.
