This morning, Round 1 concludes with Senators on the Judiciary Cmte. who did not question nominee Alito yesterday. During Round 2, questioning is limited to 20 minutes for each of the eight- een senators. Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) leads off, followed by the others, alternating by party in order of seniority.

I wish Alito would have said, "One deals with voting rights and the other deals with the killing a baby -- that is the difference you blood thirsty wench!"

I was thinking along the same lines. Even O'Connor didn't uphold Roe, when O'Connor composed Planned Parenthood, point being that "upholding" can be a more complex discussion when applied to some issues (it is with abortion), and a simple discussion and application for others, like "one man one vote," and "separate but equal."

No matter - the pattern of how and what to answer is pretty well developed over the course of the last half a dozen nominations.

DiFi asked if there would be another round. Specter indicates that he hopes not, but the matter is still undecided.
