I have seen many more people talking on the cell phone in small cars. In fact, I do not think I have seen anyone in a SUV talking on the phone. They are among the safest drivers on the road. My husband has one and it is hard for a short person to drive. That is why I do not drive it unless I have to.

It has not been SUVs that have nearly hit me because the driver was not paying attention. It is drivers of cars.

They are still incapable of safe and convenient portage of 4X8 sheets of plywood and other lumber. They cannot transport a family of four and their camping equipment at all, let alone comfortably.

????? I do this all the time. Guaranteed, I don't load a whole bundle of plywood on my Ford Focus. If I need that much, I hook up the trailer. As for camping, We load up out tents and other gearin the back and on top. The wife and I can even sleep comfortably inside.

Most drivers I see in Full Size trucks and SUV's drive like they own the road.
Tailgating, speeding changing lanes ans driving unsafe.
I have been riding Motorcycles and driving small cars for over 30 years.
Although I own a 560Sl MBZ and a 911 Rs Clone I drive my Citroen 2cv the 6 miles to work. At 60 mpg I fill the 5 gal. Tank about once a month.
I don't need a Big truck or SUV to feel Macho all I need is to get to work.
My International 4x4 sits in the driveway except for the once or twice a moth I may need to Haul something or tow my boat.

For a second car, for a commuter car, for a student, or for someone living in a big city where parking is impossible and insurance is sky high having something like a Civic makes more sense.

Exactly, We own a Ford F-150 super cab and a Honda Accord Sport Coupe. While the F-150 is the main Grocery Store, Lowe's,Home Depot, and Trip Vehicle (comfort and room is a big thing for me on a long drive) -- the Accord is just a flot out fun little car to whip around in. Plus, for driving back and forth to work trhe 35 MPG beats the hell out of 15 MPG in the F-150.

Yep, SUV drivers are smarter, nicer, and better looking than anyone else. They don't drink and drive, and never use cell phones while driving.

And I can never, ever imagine SUV owners giggling and laughing about what fun it is to crush and kill other human beings in vehicles smaller than their own.

Yep, it's a perfect world you live in. Enjoy it.

You might have to fill your tank once a month, but I only fill my evil SUV 4X4 every 6 - 8 weeks or so.

That's what I'm thinking, too. We will have to replace ours in the next few years and plan on buying another Tahoe or Yukon.

Yes Mine is a 1972. I replaced the 604cc 24hp stock engine with a 604cc 34hp Ami-8 eninge. This is a standard 2-Cv hot Rod (LOL) Upgrade.

I don't need a Big truck or SUV to feel Macho all I need is to get to work.

For most people over 18, our choice in vehicle is not about being macho, it's about getting the vehicle that does what we need to do. You brag on motorcycles and small cars as being the answer for you. Fine. When I was single and apartment living a little Honda worked just fine for me too. I take it you don't have a family you have to haul around, or have need to bring home lumber or a ton of hay on the way home from work, or pull a heavy trailer as part of your frequent routine. If that's true, or you can afford to have multiple cars, then a little car works for you, but wouldn't for me. And I'm a 'she' so it has little to do with 'macho'.

As for people in bigger vehicles acting like they own the road and little cars all being polite, I think that's more of your own bias showing.

I have a IH 4x4 to haul stuff in and a MBZ 540Sl To take the Wife to dinner in.
My 911 is for weekend driving and Track days.
Each one is a tool used for a purpose. I dont need a SUV to drive 6 miles to work in.
You dont use a hammer to remove a screw you use a screw driver.

I like that Honda Fit. Pretty slick stuff.

I just bought a couple of Toyota/Scion xBs. Similar idea, but boxier.

Small, tall, and roomy.

If you can afford to own and insure multiple vehicles for each task that strikes your fancy, then great. Most have to buy one or two vehicles that will have to work for all the needs of a family. And while you can make a truck go to town, you can't make a Honda be a truck. So for me, the truck wins.

If you need a people mover and to haul cargo a Full Size Van is the logical choice not a SUV.
You can seat 7 and haul 6 bails of hay in the back.
While towing a trailer.
