Penn & Teller... Pro-Gun?????
Penn & Teller Bulls*#@! ^ | Penn & Teller

Posted on 01/07/2006 1:42:45 AM PST by Bender2

Up late I was surfing the channels and came upon Penn & Teller's Showtime program "Bulls*#@!" as they say...

I have never been a big fan of Penn nor Teller, but they had the Second Amendment and were discussing it.

Well, you could have slapped me to 4th Street!

Penn & Teller were for the Second Amendment! And they did one of the best jobs I've ever seen of pulling the teeth from that famous liberal chant: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state" means only the state has the right to bear arms in a militia!

I believe that Larry is from somewhere in the greater Baltimore area.

Having been a roving engineer in the wireless biz for 19 years, traveling to and working in 47 states, I sort of pride myself on being able to correctly guess a persons place of origin by their accent. I would have said Larry was from Eastern Ohio, but I can see him with a Maryland accent too.

I recently caught their show in Vegas. I had front row seats.
They fired live ammo on stage.
Teller did speak. I heard his voice. It was during his "Bunny and Chipper" act. The chipper was very loud.

But after a few shots and long neck Budweisers, I don’t notice.

Anyway, I shook hands with the big guy Penn Gillette and he is HUGE!

I've read reports that P&T have a meet and greet with the audiences after every show, sometimes spending more than an hour chatting and shaking hands.

That's where I shook hands with Penn, after the show. I told him how much we enjoyed BS but I didn't say that we thought his magic show was weak.

The one show I saw by them was about envirowackism. I believe they circulated a petititon at a rally or protest. The petition was for the elimination of a chemical called "dihydro oxygen", responsible for hundred if not thousands of deaths per year. Everybody they approached signed it, only to find out later that "dihydro oxygen" is WATER (H2O)!

Reminds me of a post on FR (I think) some years ago.

It seems a couple of college guys (including the poster) got sick and tired of the campus EnviroWackos always demonstrating against some perceived danger to wildlife.

They found a picture of a gecko (like on the Geico commercials) and made up some poster-size blow ups. Then put the words "Save the Naugas!" underneath it.

Next they joined the demo, crying "Save the Naugas!", claiming thousands were being slaughtered for their skins, which provided naugahyde coverings for chairs and sofas. Instantly, the EWs began chanting the mantra and pumping the signs up and down. The instigators went somewhere private to vent their hysterics.

To this day, to a selected few friends, I write "Save the Naugas!" on the envelopes lower left corner.

Palm Beach?
Well, he has made some money – but he’s still good. He must head out to the Swamp to collect his material.

Yep, Teller is probably 5 10". I met them after a show in vegas. Yes, he does talk in person. Both of them were quite gracious with the fans.

Teller DID speak for a History Channel documentary on Houdini that ran last week....the catch?

He was silhouetted only (a la secret witnesses), but was identified as "Teller - Magician".

Haven't seen these guys magic act for years, and am surprised that they have a TV show. Does Teller speak during the TV show?

Isn't Penn (at least) living an "alternative lifestyle" as they say?

I like Penn & Teller. I won't go see a Jane Fonda, George Clooney, BS, etc. movie...but I will see P&T.

He does seem mostly libertarian, so that and his atheism will surely turn off cultural conservatives and fundamentalists.

He's very consistant, when it comes to his politics. He's a Libertarian, in favor of drug legalization, but after saying that, he'll immediately say that he's never done drugs or alcohol. While he's personally against the consumption of either, he's foursquare in favor of letting people make their own decisions, and then letting them live with the consequences. Without being bailed out by the governemt.

Nope. He's married with a little girl. They named her Moxie Crimefighter. He's always been very open about his sexuality (straight) and his preference for kinky stuff. I think he settled down once he married.
