The War on Beer (ZOT!!! Try Our Delicious Troll in Beer Batter)

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A state senator wants to force Missouri stores to sell warm beer. Under a bill by Sen. Bill Alter, grocery and convenience stores would risk losing their liquor licenses if they sold beer colder than 60 degrees. The intent is to cut down on drunken driving by making it less tempting to pop open a beer after leaving the store.
"The only reason why beer would need to be cold is so that it can be consumed right away," Alter, who has been a police offer for more than 20 years, said Thursday.

Either that or he is a Lager drinker.
Good ales, unless it's an IPA, get pretty nasty, pretty quick without being cooled below 46 degrees F.

6 ounce cans! What's the point? Sounds like a beer you'd get on an airplane.

Folks who talk about how terrible warm beer is have apparently only experienced warm budweiser, which, of course, is barely tolerable exceedingly cold.

Sierra Nevadas get kind of nasty warm, of course they ship with active yeast so when the beer gets warm the yeast "wakes up" and starts doing it's yeasty thing. It's a good way to maintain freshness during shipping but it definitely makes a beer that must be consumed cold.

Back in my younger days, we used to get those shorty Miller bottles and "shoot beers". You open one up, set it on a table, put your hands behind your back, lean over and grab the beer with your mouth only, kick your head back and down it in one gulp.

I kept my cases of good German beer in the basement, never in the fridge. Yummy.
