Pamela's guardianship renewed for another six months! Please see "Scott's News" for more information. (continued at link)

Today was the long-anticipated status hearing on guardianship for Scott.
The hearing took place in judge's chambers with Pamela and her attorneys and Eliza and her attorneys. Pamela presented the judge with information that she has now filed with the court to have Scott declared "partially capacitated". This means, at the very least, that he would then be allowed to indicate his preferences for his social environment, such as who is allowed to visit. He has repeatedly indicated that he does not want to see Eliza, but he does wants to see his son.
Pamela also informed the judge that, after Scott is legally determined to be "partially capacitated", they would be filing for a divorce for him. [emphasis mine]
Eliza indicated to the judge that she would fight any divorce proceedings.
The final item that Pamela presented to the judge is that Scott is scheduled for surgery to close his tracheotomy opening, which should allow him to regain his ability to speak and make sound.
Based on all the above information, Judge Wilkes ruled to grant Pamela another six months of full guardianship of Scott. This will be a crucial time for Pamela and Scott, as they continue to work, not only for Scott's recovery, but for him to regain the right and ability to truly "speak for himself".
Please continue to join us in prayer and other support for Scott and Pamela as they continue the battle for LIFE.

More excellent work by June Maxam.
I caught ten seconds of Michael Savage tonight. He said that if the culture of death takes over, he thinks there will be an underground railroad to protect disabled people.

The story has grabbed the headlines, since home video of 39-year-old Terri Schiavo appeared on television. Schiavo had been in a vegetative state since suffering a heart attack in 1990, which caused brain damage. She was the subject of a high-profile legal battle between her husband and her parents. Her husband wanted physicians to remove the feeding tube, arguing that she was brain dead. He also claimed she told him on previous occasions that she wished never to live permanently connected to any artificial life-support device. Her parents, meanwhile, said she could improve and claimed that she recognized them and had tried to talk. This fight galvanized the public around the very controversial issue of the "right-to-die". I guess they have to endorse Michael's lies, or risk being sued.
If there's footage from 2003 on Notorious (a & e) tomorrow night, there were a bunch of freepers at Terri's 42st birthday party. The freeper table had a purple tablecloth on it. a & e hung out at the fr table because we had candy.

:)
FYI: There's a Biography Channel. If people get that, they can see the show Notorious which is a Terri bashfest. We need to see what the propagandists are up to when we can. Possibly, they'll archive the program on their web site. They already have a message board and there are some people standing up for Terri there.
bumping post 150. America's culture of death marches on.

NEW YORK, Jan 9 (IPS) - The news stories chosen as the Top 10 of 2005 by members of the "righteous-wing" of the Republican Party offer significant insight into what U.S. religious conservatives consider most important.

BUMP to #120.
I have gratitude and admiration for Paulos, for his work in digging through the poll and sharing his findings.
How neat that he found that opinion is shifting toward supporting life!
I noticed the poll had the meaningless question I always hate to see
All in all, are you satisfied or dissatisfied with the way things are going in this country today? The pollsters don't provide an opportunity with that question for people to say which directions they prefer things go in. Liberals don't like trends to the right and conservatives don't like trends to the left.
A poll in 1993-94 might show democrats happy overall (optimistic because Clinton was president) and conservatives happy overall (optimistic because of an increasing conservative influence on national politics).
Here are some excerpts for flavor:
A self verifying man sits astride the world, surveys all he can see, and pronounces it good. This is a terrifying thing because the man doing it is none other than Judge George Greer of Florida and the thing he was pronouncing good was the excruciatingly legal murder of one Terri Schindler, formerly Terri Schiavo.
snip
Terri was murdered because the treasonous tin-pot national embarrassment from Pinellas said he wanted to kill her and nothing was going to stand in his way. Punitive impeachment absolutely must follow as the first of many cataclysmic and devastating retaliations repelling this assault on the constitution of the United States of America. I tell you what it actually is: I say again it is treason.

Please copy this post on other threads if you share my concerns. If you're not a Floridian, you got a ping if you'd care to ck out Gallagher's fundraiser. The guy chose Gallagher over Crist and Jeb is staying NEUTRAL on next year's race. Thanks, FV
Typo: Terri had a 41st birthday party. The State of Florida murdered her for Michael Schiavo before she could enjoy her 42nd birthday party.
