Today was the long-anticipated status hearing on guardianship for Scott. 

The hearing took place in judge's chambers with Pamela and her attorneys and Eliza and her attorneys.  Pamela presented the judge with information that she has now filed with the court to have Scott declared "partially capacitated".  This means, at the very least, that he would then be allowed to indicate his preferences for his social environment, such as who is allowed to visit.  He has repeatedly indicated that he does not want to see Eliza, but he does wants to see his son.  

Pamela also informed the judge that, after Scott is legally determined to be "partially capacitated",  they would be filing for a divorce for him.  [emphasis mine]

  Eliza indicated to the judge that she would fight any divorce proceedings. 

The final item that Pamela presented to the judge is that Scott is scheduled for surgery to close his tracheotomy opening, which should allow him to regain his ability to speak and make sound. 

Based on all the above information, Judge Wilkes ruled to grant Pamela another six months of full guardianship of Scott.  This will be a crucial time for Pamela and Scott, as they continue to work, not only for Scott's recovery, but for him to regain the right and ability to truly "speak for himself".

TUESDAY NIGHT ON BIOGRAPHY CHANNEL TELEVISION SHOW ON TERRI SCHIAVO (means "slave") A & E - check your local listings: "The story has grabbed the headlines, since home video of 39-year-old Terri Schiavo appeared on television. Schiavo had been in a vegetative state since suffering a heart attack in 1990, which caused brain damage. She was the subject of a high-profile legal battle between her husband and her parents. Her husband wanted physicians to remove the feeding tube, arguing that she was brain dead. He also claimed she told him on previous occasions that she wished never to live permanently connected to any artificial life-support device. Her parents, meanwhile, said she could improve and claimed that she recognized them and had tried to talk."

There was a commercial during Glenn Beck about the Biography of Terri Schiavo, I googled and found out it's TUESDAY NIGHT, JANUARY 10th at 9 or 10:00 pm.

Lesforlife, thanks for the link. I hope some news media are lurking to bring this story more daylight. In our observations, the first step in the "exit protocol" comes before, when the parents deny love. Then like a cut flower without water, the child wilts.

There is reason for FV to say what he said. Just because you don't know what's been going on for a while for those who aren't new to Terri's fight, doesn't mean that FV doesn't know what he's talking about. There are some disabled people in WV that he knows that have had a terrible time in getting help for their disabilities. If he doesn't prefer to tell you exactly whom, that's his business. But he said what he said from a position of knowledge on the matter. Those who are fighting for the rights of the disabled know that they carry a heavy burden.

Matt Drudge told on his radio show (last night) how Charlie Crist fines people who spam your e-mail $500, but Charlie Crist spams Floridians himself. One guys said that he tried several times to unsubscribe from Charlie's spam, but to no avail. Drudge said how do you complain to your Attorney General about your Attorney General? lol
