Man In Critical Condition After Mob Beating

MILWAUKEE -- It's the latest in a series of mob beatings in Milwaukee.

This time, according to police, at least 15 young people dragged a man out of his car and kicked and punched him -- after the man honked at them to get them to move out of a street.

The beating left the 50-year-old man with severe head trauma. He's hospitalized in critical condition and police said it's not clear if he'll survive.

No arrests have been made.

Three years ago, more than a dozen people chased a man through the streets of Milwaukee and beat him to death with shovel handles, rakes and tree limbs. Most of the attackers were young boys.

And last year, a man with schizophrenia died after being beaten and robbed by a group of assailants. Six teens were charged and one has been convicted.

Now, that's another mindset entirely ... you're dealing with self-styled "activists" who are deliberately snarling traffic. I encountered a mob of them on Geary in downtown SF a few years ago, they're a bunch of smug, whistle-blowing fascists.

Hi All-

This violent attack has been virtually ignored by the mainstream media. Can you imagine the horror of an innocent motorist simply encouraging people to step out of the roadway and leading to a senseless beating?

The simple fact-of-the-matter is that this is a common occurence in urban areas. I've witnessed black youths practically taunting motorists to hit them as they arrogantly step in their paths. The few newspaper accounts didn't mention descriptions of the thugs, so it wasn't too difficult to figure it out for myself.

The only practical suggestion I can make is to NEVER allow your car to come to a complete stop in dangerous neighborhoods...especially on narrow streets or closely behind another vehicle. Even slowly rolling through a stop will provide a lone driver with critical momentum if it is needed unexpectedly. I would even go so far as to suggest that many police officers would recognize one's plight if they witnessed this driving technique.

Now, had he killed one or two of the youngest ones in the bunch, would it be justifiable (granted, their tribes would have a death vendetta toward him)?

Under the circumstances, the man could have defended himself.

A man from Arkansas took a wrong turn in Milwaukee a few months ago shot and killed a youth who was trying to rob him. Even though the Arkansas man had a loaded gun in his van which is highly illegal in Wisconsin, the man was released from custody the next day and no charges were filed. (Man won't be charged in gas station shooting)

Wisconsins laws are not particularly good when it comes to CCW and self-defense, but they are seldom used to prosecute people involved in clear self-defense shootings.
