Britain's Prince Charles wants to be King George

Prince Charles has reportedly discussed rejecting the title King Charles III when he accedes to the throne because of its associations with Britain's bloody past.

Would you ever consider using your phone through your internet connection?

Absolutely You can do that? I'd need the details

"There have been many conversations with the Prince about this. It is an assumption among us all that it will happen," one of two unnamed "trusted friends" told the Times newspaper.

The other was quoted as saying: "They (the Royal Family) will decide at the time, but he has talked about George."

Prince Charles -- whose full name is Charles Philip Arthur George -- is said to favour the title George VII when he takes over from his mother, the current Queen Elizabeth II.

George VI, who died in 1952, was the queen's father who took over unexpectedly after his brother Edward VIII adbicated over his relationship with an American divorcee.

The Times said the move away from Charles stems from its associations with Charles I, who was beheaded in 1649 following the English Civil War at the start of Oliver Cromwell's short-lived republic.

The executed monarch's son, Charles II, spent 18 years in exile and returned to Britain in 1660 but was nicknamed "The Merry Monarch" because of his string of mistresses.

Charles is also associated with the Catholic Bonnie Prince Charlie, an enduring Scottish romantic figure, who claimed the throne in the 18th century. A spokesman for Clarence House, Prince Charles's official London residence, was quoted as saying: "One of the questions that we have asked is what he (Charles) will be known as. The decision will be taken at the time."

The move would not be a first: in the 19th century, queen Victoria was born Alexandrina Victoria while Edward VIII was referred to in royal circles as Prince David.

Good Lord, who cares what those people do (the royals)? They are a bunch of corrupt philanderers. It is a pity that the revolutionaries from 1776 couldn't have rid England of George III and the crown to have spared the world of their ilk forever.

I suspect he's not only going to change his name to George but also to get an unlisted phone number and a fake beard.

He'll likely do anything to avoid being found by Camilla.

The earlier King Edward, Queen Victoria's son, was known as "Bertie" until he assumed the throne.

Personally, I think Charles fits in fine with the other Charleses.

And I will love him and hug him and pet him and squeeze him and I will call him George.

He probably won't ascend the throne until he's in his 80s. His mother is a tough old bird (look at HER mother). He'll either have the shortest reign ever or be the King in name only, with William as Regent. I'd rather see William on the throne than Charles. He seems to have more sense than his old man.

I suggested Edward IX, pointedly as a reference to his great-uncle, because neither he (nor, probably, Procter & Gamble) would go for Tampax I.

Could we set the bar a bit higher?

How ridiculous! Charles I and II had their good points, and the name is an old and noble one going back to Charlemagne and Charles Martel.

I think the ugly old lady that wears the funny hats will outlive him anyway. She should have left years ago, but she hangs on like a leach. maybe thats because she is a leach.
