Minnesota native Al Franken is moving back to Minneapolis, bringing his national radio talk show with him. He is also considering a future run for the U.S. Senate. Last week he was in town promoting his latest book, "The Truth (with jokes)," and doing a live broadcast from the Pantages Theater. On Sunday afternoon he came to the Star Tribune for a meeting with members of the editorial board. The following is excerpted from their conversation:
Al Franken: I know it's probably a bad way to start, but could you guys tell me where to get a Sunday Times? [Silence.] That was a joke.
Q Could you tell us why you're moving the show to Minneapolis?
A Because I can. I'm an empty-nester now, and I'd always thought about moving back to Minnesota. You can do a radio show from pretty much anywhere. Also, I'm thinking of getting involved politically here, so I moved at the first opportunity to come back.
What you guys probably don't know is that I've formed a PAC, called Midwest Values PAC, MVP. I'm going to be raising money for progressive organizations and candidates -- here in Minnesota, in the Midwest and around the country.
Q The last time we talked, it sounded pretty sure that you were going to run for Senate.
A That was your interpretation. I've never been sure that I am. I'm very seriously considering it, but I don't know whether I'm running or not. This cycle, I'm going to be campaigning for Democrats all over the state and all over the country.

Good one! I had to reread the sentence a few times to find that misspelling. It's not easy to spot.
Their only prayer is if they really get religion and stop promoting perversion and the senseless diabolical slaughter of the unborn. Their current strategy seems to be just more crossdressing - they will occasionally pretend by aping religious-sounding and values-sounding rhetoric while intending no policy changes. Clever and devious but too superficial and transparent. As with John Kerry, most people will be able to smell the phoniness of their new act.
Get some, first.
Ray Charles: 'We have to win on vision.'
remember chitlery and bill in 1992 with their response to 41, "Whose values?" .... = no values at all
Liberals love humanity, it's human beings they despise.
Really. Must be Air America is doing so well, financially stable, high audience penetration, a stellar success, that he doesn't need to spend so much time on it now and can work on other ways to benefit humankind
LOL! HA! HA!...priceless! :D
"Al Franken: I know it's probably a bad way to start, but could you guys tell me where to get a Sunday Times? [Silence.] That was a joke"
You know you're not funny when you have to explain it's suppose to be a joke.
"Only a brainless idiot could call the economic ruin, starvation and mass murder of socialism, "progressive." "
Excellent observation. May I use this in the future to replace my tagline?
The question I always ask when these knuckleheds bandy the term "progressive" about is:
"Progressive towards what?"
This usually brings on the "deer in the headlights" expression...priceless!
Win on values....
Explicit gay sex education for 3rd graders? Secret tax-funded abortions for teen girls? Retro-active tax increases? Supporting Code Pink's attacks on servicemen?
I prefer to just start naming off conservative values and refer to them as progressive. Just take on the whole lexicon of the left and apply it to the right. It drives 'em nuts.
I would be honored.
Wow, it's amazing what viscious and hateful commentary spews from value-packed conservatives! Obviously, none of the comments pertaining to Al Franken were made by anyone who knows anything about Al Franken. Are you folks really consevatives or libeals masquerading as conservatives to make conservatives look bad?
