Senator Calls on Bush to Take Down Attack AD

Today, Senator Daniel Inouye, the Ranking Member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and a recipient of the Medal of Honor for his service in World War II, released the following statement:

"As a Veteran of World War II, I know what it’s like to fight a war and put your life on the line every day. I also know what it takes to win a war, and I know that politics and an attack machine like the President’s plays no part in it.

"The Republican Party’s latest ad is a shameful and disgusting attempt to distract the American people from the problems in Iraq. It may improve the President’s political fortunes, but the American people and our troops will pay the price. I hope that President Bush realizes how shameful it is to play politics when what we really need is leadership, and that he will direct his Party to take down this ad immediately."

Ditto that.

The person beneath you suggested we write to the GOP and thank them. I suggest we write to them, thank them, and tell them not to back off one inch from this ad even if McCainiac comes out and slam it. And I wouldn't put it past the Maverick.

Stand ground, do not even defend the ad, remain on OFFENSE. Keep the subject their WORDS.

Exactly right! The whining from the left is proof positive of the success of this ad. It is no surprise, however, since the most effective weapon to use against these losers are their very own words

All the ad does is replay Kerry and Dean's exact quotes. What's the problem? \

Right. We're just helping the Dems get their message out and it's working. It just that nobody likes the message.

Dean, Kerry, Boxer, Pelosi, Kennedy, Reid can say just about any stupid thing and Republicans remain shy and timid little puppy dogs. I think it is time Republicans become pit bulls who bite Democrat Liars. We must support our faithful military from such low life name callers.

Club Business;A member faces expulsion Time Magazine March 15, 1982, U.S. Edition

March 15, 1982, U.S. Edition

SECTION: NATION; Pg. 19

LENGTH: 432 words

HEADLINE: Club Business; A member faces expulsion

BODY: It is a rare occasion when more than a few of the 100 U.S. Senators are present in the chambers to listen to a debate. But last week nearly all the members of what has been called the most exclusive club in the world sat quietly at their desks and listened. The solemn and painful business at hand was Senate Resolution 204, urging the expulsion of Senator Harrison Williams, 62, New Jersey Democrat, member of the club for 23 years and convicted felon. His crime: accepting stock in a Virginia titanium mine and promising to use hies influence to help that venture prosper in return for a $100 million loan for the mining operation from a supposed Arab sheik who turned out to be an FBI agent. Caught int he ABSCAM net, Williams had been sentence to three years in prison, and now his colleagues had to decide whether to cast out one of their own for the first time in more than a century.

Acting as prosecutor was Howell Heflin of Alabama, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Ethics Committee, which last August voted unanimously for expulsion. "Put most simply," drawled Heflin, "Harrison Williams traded on his office." For nearly three hours, Heflin painstakingly built his case. "At any point in this drawn-out, sordid affair, Senator Williams could have said, 'Wait a minute. What you're proposing is wrong.'" said Heflin. "But he didn't. He stayed, he discussed, he agreed, he promised, he pledged, all this to abuse his public trust,"

Countered Democratic Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, Williams' advocate: "The FBI created a trap and then goaded . . . members of Congress into that trap. It could happen to any of us. I don't believe a Senator should be expelled for being a fool." The next day Senator Williams launched into his own four-hour, rambling defense, which included charts. "I am completely innocent," he insisted. "I do not believe it is asking too much for me to expect that my peers will . . . answer my prayers and cast the first vote against the perpetrators of ABSCAM."

But as the session adjourned for the weekend, several Senators said privately that Williams had failed to explain why he could nto turn his back on temptation. Williams seemed to face the dubious distinction of belonging to an even more exclusive club. Only 15 Senators have been expelled in the Senate's history: William Blount of Tennessee in 1797 for trying to incite an Indian rampage, the other 14 during the Civil War for joining the Confederacy. Said Williams sadly: "What the Senate of the United States does, I will accept, I will accept, I will respect."

Senator Daniel Inouye defended a fellow Democratic Senator who was caught in an FBI sting operation in the early 80's. I wonder why Senator Daniel Inouye wasn't defending Duke Cunningham who fell to similar circumstances from the CIA front company MZM inc? At least Randy Cunningham had the decency to admit his guilt instead of pointing his finger and blaming his lack of morals on the CIA.

"His statement is the height of politicization trying to attempt to be seen taking the high road, using his medals to make him above reproach, and slamming the President and success in Iraq under cover of these tactics.

Precisely.

There is nothing about this ad that is even slightly an "attack". It is simply a compilation of current quotes from left wing Democrats. The Democrats haven't learned that the internet media world is different. It is a vast store of ability to retrieve and replay. The days of making stupid comments and relying on the leftist mainstream media to cover them up is over. Howard Dean will be hearing his primal scream for the rest of his life.

Rush Limbaugh and his staff really refined this technique of exposing the real nature of the Democrats. You can run, but you can't hide. Appearances on TV, radio and press are constantly being collected.

Typical Democratic strategy...
They call President Bush every evil name imaginable from Hitler to Satan, and when he responds (an eternity later) the Dems accuse him of playing politics. And they use a war veteran, like Inouye, to be their spokesman for their outrage.

I just saw the ad. They showed the actual people making the
statements right out of their collective mouths. Nothing out of context from anything I've read.

P.S. I honestly thought that Inouye died 20 years ago.

"As a Veteran of World War II, I know what it like to fight a war and put your life on the line every day. I also know what it takes to win a war, and I know that politics and an attack machine like the President plays no part in it."

Getting his arm blown off is no more instructive in knowing how to win a war than some private in Iraq doing the same today. The reason the war he fought in was won is because we were not overrun by left wing cowards in the 1940s.

Former Us Senator Eugene McCarthy just died today, and he too, knew how to solve the rubric cube of warfare. He began an anti war effort from the left that led to his presidents decision not to seek reelection, the emergence of Bobby Kennedy as a presidential candidate, which led to his assassination, and to the eventual loss of the War in Vietnam. The war in Vietnam was not lost on the battlefield, but in the very same manner that the Democrats are trying today.</p>

I just got here...and haven't read the whole thread...but, I would assume that Inouye is being used to pass on this message...just as Murtha was used to pass on his message...

The democrats in this country is the greatest enemy this country faces. If we do not solve this once and for all this country will wither under their squeamish appeasement.
