Senator Calls on Bush to Take Down Attack AD
Drudge Report ^ | 12/10/05 | Drudge

Today, Senator Daniel Inouye, the Ranking Member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and a recipient of the Medal of Honor for his service in World War II, released the following statement:

"As a Veteran of World War II, I know what it’s like to fight a war and put your life on the line every day. I also know what it takes to win a war, and I know that politics and an attack machine like the President’s plays no part in it.

"The Republican Party’s latest ad is a shameful and disgusting attempt to distract the American people from the problems in Iraq. It may improve the President’s political fortunes, but the American people and our troops will pay the price. I hope that President Bush realizes how shameful it is to play politics when what we really need is leadership, and that he will direct his Party to take down this ad immediately."

The 'ol Rats can dish it out but can't take it trick!

Exactly! This ad is LONG over due as far as I'm concerned. Some of what the the Dems have done borders on treason. And trotting out a CMOH recipient isn't going to change that! The Dems can squawk a squeel all they want...they can also kiss my aunt fanny in Macy's Department store window!

Jag!

"Attack ad"? Too funny. These are democRATS own recent seditious words. Only a democrat would believe a quote of their own is an "attack". Let them choke on them.

I think we should petition the networks to just go ahead and use your titles. They're far more accurate. ;)

Yes, he is arguing that the Republicans are politicizing Iraq. And to be honest, they are. IMHO, that is the right thing to do because Cindy Sheehan, Moveon.org and a number of others, have had the floor on the argument since last year. That doesn't make the Senator some kind of devil. He has his opinion about politicization and we have ours. Honest and honorable dialog must exist in this country someplace????

I am tired of having to fight these Democrats.

It is hard enough trying to defeat a terrorist enemy.

These pot shots from the left.

The undermining is sometimes unbearable.

I'm just trying to say, Do not give these people any slack.

When you reach out to shake their hand, they stab you in the heart.

I prefer to kick them in the nuts.

I agree with you.

We need to kick back.

The AD is fine

It is also fine that the Sen disagrees with it. We can ignore him. We have bigger fish to fry.

"I bet you Bush will. The republicans now a days are worse than the French."

Doesn't matter now, they've been exposed already. The damage is done.

Thanks for the link.

Here is my reply.

Sen Inouye,

The GOP advertisement featured recent television appearances of your Congressional colleagues. As such, it cannot be an attack ad.

As in 1972, today's Democratic party has been overwhelmed by the radicals. As a loyal American, your standing, influence and charisma would be best used to cauterize the growing anti-American cancer present in your party.

I detest his hypocrisy.

I never said he didn't earn his medals.

I just think that his medals are not the Wonka Ticket to the liberal retreat of selective amnesia when it comes to taking a piecemeal approach to criticizing rhetoric.

The GOP said nothing wrong. They only amplified something very wrong that happened to be said by Democrats.

Note to the Bush Admin:

Don't even think of taking this ad down. If you think the dust-up over Harriet Meirs was heavy, take this ad down and see what happens. You all are starting to get the conservative train a-rolling, don't screw it up now by once again trying to "get along" with democrats, let alone "cave in" to them.

If there was one thing that has been vividly pointed out to you during the last 5 years is that there is no "getting along" with the democrats, and esp, the bunch of left wing lunitics that are in charge of the 'rat party today.

Leave the ad in place, and find even more places where it can be aired.

It's not an attack ad. We are just helping the Democrats get their message out.

So let's see ... ads that use clips, quotes of dim politicians are bad, divisive etc.

Glad these jerks are clarifying this so that those of us too dumb to understand will know that dims are to be held to a different standard - as in lower ... much lower.

It's their own words. Captured on video. They should defend what they said, not complain that people actually listened to their words and are holding them accountable.

(Sorry but "accountable" is not in the The New Left Dictionary).

I would suggest we ALL send an email to the GOP National Committee and let them know how much we really appreciate the ad, and the fact that the GOP is 'finally' fighting back to the demonRAT BS that constantly flows in our direction.

Again, That isn't the argument he is making. I pointed out his POLITICAL statements sandwiched in the entire release that prove otherwise.

IF he were making a statement not to politicize, he would not slam the Leadership of the President, use the opportunity to say Iraq is a problem, nor infer Republicans are trying to distract from the "problem" with this ad.

His statement is not calling for the end to politization. His statement is the height of politicization trying to attempt to be seen taking the high road, using his medels to make him above reproach, and slamming the President and success in Iraq under cover of these tactics.

I do not know why you want to give him credit undeserved, but I refuse to grant you the premise he is simply arguing against politization. It's flat out wrong.

The RATS are really squealing over this one, which only indicates that the ad is true.
