We will not be playing all the artists and versions that we have. We don't have the space, but we feel you'll get enough variations to enjoy yourself. Background Information: The Englishman, John Francis Wade, wrote both the words and the music, Adeste Fideles. The Musical score was first published in 1782 in Samuel Webbe's An Essay on the Church Plain Chant in 1782. John Francis Wade first included it in his own 1751 publication of Cantus Diversi. The lyrics were first published in 1760. If you hear someone using tissues, it's MoJo. This song has watery effects. To our British and Aussie allies, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Background Info: Joy to the World The words and lyrics of the old Christmas carol 'Joy to the World' were written in 1719 by Isaac Watts (1674-1748). The father of John Watts was a Non-conformist and so extreme were his views that he was imprisoned twice. His father's influence over Isaac was demonstrated when he choose to attend Nonconformist Academy at Stoke Newington in preference to a University. Watts was ordained as a Pastor of an Independent congregation. He wrote many hymns and Carols and was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree by the the University of Edinburgh in 1728. The music to the carol is by George Frederick Handel (1685-1759). MoJo Thought: Have you ever noticed while reading articles that when referring to GOD that many folks decide to write it *G-D*? What is that? Is it supposed to mean that it is less potent and offensive by keeping the *o* from appearing? My suggestion to these folks isn't to use God at all. If you can't add the *o*, don't write it. This is true for those of you that believe or don't.

We've decked the halls
of the Canteen walls,
for our men and women at war.
Folks from far and distant lands arrive
dark for us light for them
to the other way around again.
We light the candles and place the fire
we gave the order to the guard, WELCOME ALL
who've worn the cloak of defense on their arm.
Offer drink to sup and food to sustain the body
the warmth of laughter ringing round the corridors
Merry voices echo down from towers high above
a genteel feeling filters down, while we here don't tarry
in the offer of friendship sound,
with honest kinship on the hand offered
at the gate.

Kia Ora,
> Would you like to be added to our Canteen Ping List? On Friday nights/Saturday (all day), you may be flooded with a lot of pings because we play a lot of music.
Yes please. Music's good, so lots of pings are no problem at all.
> We are honored to have you here. Thank you for your service!
I have never had the privilege of serving (I would if I had the opportunity), but I am in full support of those who have.
> Go All Blacks!
AMEN! We have a world-beating Team, and we're looking forward to hosting the world in 2011, when the World Cup of Rugby will be contested on New Zealand's hallowed Rugby soil.
Open invitation to everybody: Don't miss the Party in New Zealand in 2011 -- or better still, come here several times between now and then, get to know the place, then Party up majorly in 2011. You will be made to feel most welcome, because you are!

Thank you for writing back.
Believe it or not, I've been to New Zealand. When I go to NZ, it's to visit relatives. I haven't been there in a long time, but I'm trying to get my oldest son to leave America to visit relatives there and elsewhere in the South Pacific. Not going well at all with that.
I just read that Jonah Lomu is trying to come back. If he could come back to his phenomenal playing ability during the WC'95, that would be awesome. HOwever, I'm not sure how that will work out.
Since I'm too lazy to ask my cousins about it, what's going on with David Tua these days?? Always curious to hear what he's doing or not doing.
Also, I haven't seen much news lately about *Goldie*. Is he still playing cricket or has he comeback to rugby yet??
Congratulations to Dan Carter for winning the IRB Player of the Year. He's a cutie that one, but he is a great player.
I still long to see the days of Sean Fitzpatrick and Zinzan playing again.

By the way, Colonel_Flagg is now into rugby. Naturally, MoJo steered him towards the All Blacks first. No need to waste time rooting for the Lions, Wallabies, or Springboks. Hehe!
Although, I will root for the United States and Manu Samoa as well, but the All Blacks come first!

Yesterday we were talking about decorating for Christmas. I'm pretty sure these pictures are from Christmas 1993; they appear to be the only ones I have scanned:
