TBN Suspends Hal Lindsey Show
Contender Ministries ^ | Dec 5th, 2005 | Jennifer Rast

Posted on 12/05/2005 3:15:43 PM PST by laney

The Trinity Broadcasting Network has suspended Hal Lindsey’s television program, “International Intelligence Briefing” for the month of December, and possibly permanently. According to Lindsey’s website, his show was suspended because, “Some at the network apparently feel that my message is too pro-Israel and too anti-Muslim.” A phone call and email to TBN have not received a response yet. If and when TBN responds, I’ll update this post.

In the interest of full disclosure, I should say that I’m not in 100% agreement with all of Hal Lindsey’s statements, and I’m also not the biggest fan of TBN. While many of their programs are quite enjoyable, I am troubled by others. I believe the opulent gold-gilded set of their “Praise the Lord” show sends the wrong message - one of worldly materialism. One person in the TBN hierarchy has made statements that I believe undermine orthodox Trinitarian doctrine. With that said, I don’t watch enough of TBN’s programming to make judgments beyond this. However, if TBN did suspend IIB for the reasons Lindsey has stated, this will be quite troubling. From what I have seen on Lindsey’s IIB show, he has done nothing more than express the truth regarding Islam and shared in God’s view of Israel. If Lindsey’s accusations are true, I have to wonder how much this decision has been influenced by a large, “mainline” denomination that has taken the disturbing step of divesting from Israel and blaming them for the fact that innocent Israelis get blown apart by Palestinian terrorists.

As more information is available on this, I’ll share it.

I think the Van Impe's have a grasp on the Book of Revelation that most people proably do not understand..Hagee is very smart on the OT/NT and has a powerful way to wake folks up.

MATTHEW 24

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying: "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"
And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you.
For many will come in My name, saying, "I am the Christ," and will deceive many. False Messiah - 1
False Messiah - 2
False Messiah - 3
And you will hear wars and rumors of wars.
See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will raise against nation, and Kingdom against kingdom. Wars / Rumors of Wars - 1
Wars / Rumors of Wars - 2
Wars / Rumors of Wars - 3
And there will be famines, Famines - 1
Famines - 2
pestilences, Pestilences - 1
Pestilences - 2
Pestilences - 3
and earthquakes in various places. Earthquakes - 1
Earthquakes - 2

"All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Indeed and I have no trouble with that. But ol Hal reads the good book and somehow finds it talking about submarines, helicopters, and specific nations and world leaders.

Thats where he jumps the track......

A little research will show Lindsey has never paid a nickel to TBN for the show. It's been donated air time and the production of program is a freebie. Much to do about nothing.

Scaring the crap out of people for 30 minutes or an hour. Yep, I'm sure I read that in the New Testament somewhere. Hagee and the Van Impes can have a grasp on whatever book they choose. But neither of them focus on the love of Christ or God's gift as much as they do about end times, the very thing Christ Himself said no one knew except the Father. What is the purpose of the focus? I've watched Hagee before. He can go an entire sermon without even touching on the central Message. If this were every once in awhile I can understand it. But it's every week. If I were a pastor, I would be more concerned about explaining Christ's love and eternal gifts by believing on His name instead of when He will be showing up.

Look at Dr. Stanley. The man gets across the message of Christ, of a relationship with the Father, His love for us, and the helping of the Holy Spirit by just reading the Word. He has a loyal viewership without having his creepy wife read headlines breathlessly (not to mention the weird guy off stage that reads the 'offers') or standing in front of some huge prophetic board made solely for television. I am quite sure that there are better purposes for God's money, say giving to the poor and helping those that are less fortunate than us we were commanded to help instead of paying a team of commercial designers to come up with cool looking backdrops every few weeks.

I wouldn't associate with Benny Hinn, would you?

I don't care what kind of arrangements Lindsey had. The people at TBN are evil and do religion a major disservice.

Even in nature, on a coral reef or on the gayest peacock could you not find a more garish thing than Jan Crotch.

And Paul with his 1974 porn star hair and mustache, the set that looks like it was designed by the only non homosexual interior designer....

TBN is great theatre, its like a huge garish drag show.

Hal Lindsay knows that when you have an ignorant audience, you can scare them into sending you lots of dough. Facts? Who needs him, in the "Late Great Planet Earth" universe of Hal, you just say that the world is going to end in 5 years, sell the books and make the dough. When the world doesn't end, just say its because of God's grace.

Then you do it all over again. L. Ron Hubbard has nothing on this slimy grifter.

I love Dr. Stanley. But no one has mentioned John McArthur -- I think he's an excellent Bible teacher - -

Hal and several other prophecy teacher\authors lost alot of credibility over the Y2K issue.

Anyway, Hal's commentary and analysis was good.

TBN is in continuous fundraising mode--they don't have time to think.

Uh, he lost credibility in the 70's when he was preaching the end of the world by the 80's.

He has a gullible audience that has a short memory and lots of dough.

No fan of Hal's either, but I think the Crouchs are a bunch of fakes who use the name of Christ to get rich. If this is true, then it just confirms my belief about them.
