"Dear Joshua, I hope you die!" -- J. Sparling (Walter Reed patient)

This story was reported on Fox and Friends this morning.

Joshua Sparling just got to Walter Reed last week and received ONE letter from someone writing in a child's printing. Among other things it told him to die. The soldier has the card on the wall of his room. I know FReepers can counter this despicable action with some of our own letters.

Joshua Sparling

Walter Reed Army Medical Center

6900 Georgia Avenue N.W.

Washington, D.C. 20307-5001

Update: Since Joshua will undoubtedly be overwhelmed by America's response, please consider sending (instead of or in addition to Joshua) cards to these find troops:

Excerpt from Brian K. at FNC:
If you have the time, please try and include the others I met along with Col. North and Col. Hunt at Walter Reed:

Capt. James Ollinger
Sgt. Zavian Simspon
Specialist Brian Radke
Specialist Jason Braase
Sgt. David Nevins
Sgt. Jose Ramos
Cpl. Todd Bishop
Sgt. Ryan Donnelly
Sgt. Eva Diane Cochran

Ping!

Have you seen this? Disturbing at best, this sicko who is taunting an injured person recuperating in the hospital. I hope they're treating this card sending, cowardly psycho as the criminal he/she is.

I think an older sibling or a parent put a kid up to it. Possibly a teacher.

I'm so bothered by this. The thank you card went out today. The Christmas card will go out first thing tomorrow. As well as a card for Eva. I think Joshua will need a personal assistant to handle his new correspondence! What do you think? I say fingerprint that letter and envelope and let junior have it.

Support the patients at Walter Reed. Counter Code Pink's cruelty Friday nights at 6:30 pm. See Walter Reed after action reports for details. If you live or work near DC, or can drive, fly, or swim there please commit to showing the troops we're proud of them.

Would not surprise me! From time to time, my son has to be un docrinated (full explanation of circumstances) from liberal BS he picks up at school.

Speak of the devil...did anyone just catch the piece on FOX News about the teacher who was showing her third-grade students how to write "anti-war letters"?

People...do you STILL think this was an adult that sent this card?

Don't forget that the anthrax letters used childlike writing.
Someone with Buckhead-like analytic skills should look for a connection.

I just forwarded this to my wife's with the question if her Marine Moms group can send Joshua some encouragement.

(I have not served. My tagline honors my son and my cousin.)

Got a card off to Joshua today. Now that I see the update with additional names, I will get cards off to the others in tomorrow's mail.

May God bless and keep those in our military!

I have to make a point of to getting up at 6 EST and see what Brian K says about this story. He broke the story this morning on Fox & Friends.

I might have a snow day tomorrow but it will be worth it getting up early. Bet he mentions the blogs.

"I might have a snow day tomorrow but it will be worth it getting up early. Bet he mentions the blogs."

Let us know. (I live in Phoenix. We never have snow
days. The last time snow actually stuck on the ground
was 1938, the year my mother moved here, several years
before I was born. She was a nurse. All of the patients
were trying to look out the window to see the snow.
She was running them back to bed. "You all [she was from
Oklahoma] act as if you've never seen snow." Guess what.

It's appalling that someone would use and brainwash a child in that manner. I don't know whether it was caused by a parent or a raidcal teacher.

I guess it's a child. It would not surprise me to
learn that it's an adult trying to hide his or her
hatred and ignorance.
