It's taking a while to choose up sides and figure out who's going to fight & who's going to surrender, but in our hearts, we've already committed to fight... chgomac
The Dims are riding the tiger. Their dismount will be catatrosphic for their political party. When the terrorists finally convince the appeasers -and they will do so- that all freedom loving people are in mortal danger, the tide will turn worldwide. But, unless great leadership emerges very soon, it will be too late to spare our country another terrible blow. It all seems very tragic to me. I don't say any of this out of gloating or hatred for the left; it is a great sadness to me. Lefties are and always have been suckers for totalitarian manipulators until monumental, and sinister, events transpire.
Poor John Warner on this morning's MTP tells Ginger Pig Tim that GDubya should talk to the people just like Grandaddy Franklin did in fireside chats. Sure, there's a great idea. Except, pontificating John fails to mention that every man and woman in the US hated the enemy during WWII. John needs to wake up and start giving the POTUS some help in leading all of the American people in the right direction. The following quote is right on point -something is going to happen:
Keep one thing in mind. Something will happen, or the Democrats will overplay their hand, and the polls will all reverse. I can guarantee everyone not one single TV pundit will be talking next summer about the polls today... Morgan in Denver

Well my inner "ogre" is coming out today because I sprained and strained ankle and foot big time. I am trying to post with my foot high in the air looking like a green "Nerf" football. I am not holding back much today.

I would like to see Secretary Rice on more often as well. She does not need to be confrontational, but talking about what she is able to in providing us with what's going on around the world. Her value, to me, would be she is trusted and presents another adult representative of the White House and US foreign policy. I also beleive the State Department needs more positive press, and she might be able to provide that.
To: DoughtyOne; Reagan Man
Nope. Both of you have had your credibility completely nuked today. You claimed Bush's job approval was down to 27%. It was in one of your very first posts. I asked you to prove it by providing a link to the poll. You had to admit you had no link to back up your claim. I then presented you with the data that showed even the correct claims of Bush's JA in the upper 30% range bogus since they were based on polls that had switched to anyone over 18 polling this summer in place of Likely Voters and had reweighted their data sample to reduce Republican polled and significantly increase the Democrat and "Independents" sample. That is information anyone who actually read the poll rather then just the head line would know.
You still refused to admit your argument was based on error. Once you admitted that it was clear everything you were basing your argument on was your own feelings. Your credibility on this thread is GONE. Sorry you are nuked. Trying to spin your way out of it by going into rabid attack mode does NOT help you. You are wrong. You are prove wrong. Every continuing post shows just how wrong you are.
Give you another bit of data that shows you are not a serious commentators. "Millions, if not tens of millions" of US Citizens watch these Sunday shows". Don't they just wish. NOPE. The Sunday shows draw NO WHERE near those sort of ratings. The entire Nightly News audience(their highest market shares) for all the broadcast networks combined is under 25,000,000. The Sunday shows do not even draw 1/3 of that.
So perhaps less angst and hand wringing in the future and more factual accuracy from you two. The Sunday thread is a serious thread for thoughtful commentary, not the usual Freeper bluster and chest pounding. If you want to be taken seriously here, you better have the facts cause you ARE going to be challenged to back up your claims.

His behavior last week made us all look bad. His refusal to face facts and attacking everyone who disgreed with him did all of us a disservice. Those types of posts are usually found on DU.

I don't know about your point about waging war by polling for best strategy...
I think that is what Clinton did...in both Iraq, and in Kosovo....and in both cases, he polled (IMHO) that he "needed" a war as a distraction, but couldn't handle the negativity of casualties, so he just waged a couple of "air wars"....
Are we not still in Kosovo...and how much did his bombing runs do to stop Saddam???
I think President Bush is doing just the opposite...and that is what is making Chrissy Matthews, the dems and others crazy....that he ISN'T looking to his "falling numbers" to decide when to get out of Iraq...

Well I think his efforts are wasted when attacking people on his own side, but that's only natural since I disagree with him.
As for last week, it's too bad he got into the same types of discussions.
Let's see what next week brings. Heh heh heh...
Thanks for the comments.

People, we do not want to fight each other in a vicious manner like we would DU trolls. We need to disagree, but save the vitriol for the Liberals and Commie-Pinko's that are trying to Destroy our Country. This is a very meaningful important thread because everyone contributes and has something important to say. Please do not make this thread less meaningful by getting into a "p!$$ing contest", it demeans the entire thread. Remember that everything that is typewritten is deemed much stronger than in Person because in person your facial expressions can take the sting away even when you are a little harsh.

If Walter Cronkite were alive -- sorry, he is alive. If Walter Cronkite were on the news today, if a Walter Cronkite equivalent were on the news, he would -- immediately after that broadcast we just saw, he would have been called a traitor....
We could make this into one of those "priceless" commercials without a lot of effort!

Your behavior last week cost you any credibility you had. You embarrassed this thread you are so proud of with that "Im in charge here and can have kicked off". A premise immediately refuted by the mods. Your childish and petulant behavior was absolutely shameful..

We need too spend far less time repeating the Democrats talking points and far more time pointing out the fraud in the Democrat spin. For example, we spent what, three days talking about how every Democrat was telling a different story about Iraq this fall then they did going as far back as 1998 and Clinton. Do we hear that picked up and repeated? No instead we get the 10,000th post telling us how Bush is blowing it and needs to do this or that. Frankly, most of us are tired of hearing this same refrain over and over and over and over and over. We are SICK of people sitting around waiting for someone to ride in and rescue them.
How many letters to the Editor, calls to Talk Radio or email exchanges with "Journalists" posting them links to the facts on what Dems said then and are saying now have the Constant Complainers made this week? How many people have they talked to about Iraq? I have done hundreds of contacts on Iraq. I do so every week. So do many other Freepers. Frankly we are sick and tired of stand on the sideline "Coaches" who spend all their time lecturing their own side. The Dinosaur media is part of the ENEMY. They ARE NOT going to play fair with you unless they are dragged kicking and screaming to a story they simply cannot ignore. You all keep crying for Bush to act like Clinton and be better at manipulating the media. Well I hate to burst your bubble, but the Dinosaur Media is NOT going to allow any Republican the to manipulate them the way they allowed Clinton to. They were on Clinton's side, they will NEVER be on Bush's side.
Screaming for some new PR offensive is a waste of time, it is NOT going to happen. WE have to do it. Anything that comes from the WH is immediately subject to hostile Dinosaur Media spin. It will NEVER be reported the way you want. But 1000 letters to a Republican Senator chastening them for voting with the crowd on the Warner Amendment or 5000 letters to a Journalist like Brit Hume giving him links to the record on what Democrats said in 1998 about Iraq WILL have an impact.
Less Handwrining, more action. Too many Freepers think because they log on here and post 500 posts complaining about Bush they are "helping". NO you are NOT.

President Bush's approval rating is increasing faster then Bill Clinton can unzip his pants. Great comment...may I borrow it for my tagline?
To: maggief
If someone had days and days(even months) to research what actually happened I think a good case could be made for almost every assertion made about Saddam in the NIE. on fr for instance there are thread after thread linking to almost every assertion made about him and many other allegatins like the complicity of Saddam at the okc bombing to uniting with N Korea, and Lybia to produce nucs to shipping poisonous gasses to Syria.
The jury is still out on what Saddam's capabilities actually were or were not.
Oh and don't forget satellite photos showing al Qaeda terrorists training in Iraq on how to fly jets on a mock- up of one of our jets.
