AgapePress) - An official with a pro-family group reports that a boycott campaign aimed at Target Stores nationwide has succeeded in attracting hundreds of thousands of consumers who say they intend to shop elsewhere during what is traditionally the busiest shopping weekend of the year.

On Friday (Nov. 18) the American Family Association (AFA) launched on online boycott campaign against Target, citing the retailer's decision to ban Salvation Army kettles from their store entrances as well as the use of "Merry Christmas" in their in-store promotions and retail advertising. By the following Monday, almost 300,000 individuals had "signed" an online petition indicating they planned to express their disapproval of that decision by avoiding Target Stores during the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. At press time, that number had jumped to more than 340,000

Funny you should mention that - here is the feedback I sent to the US Post Awful through their Comments site where I left a complaint:

Related to your Madonna & Baby Jesus stamp issue, why do you not describe it as the Christmas Traditional instead of the more PC "Holiday Traditional"? Don't you all realize you make tons of money from people sending out CHRISTMAS cards this year? I send Christmas cards to my Christian friends. At least you're using the word Hanukkah to describe the Dreidel stamp. Harrrumph. Christmas greetings by e-mail are looking better and better all the time.

I just thought I would throw in that zinger about e-mail. The Post Office knows they've been losing big bucks revenue ever since AlGore invented the Internet, as are the airlines.

Just an FYI (and if you're interested in signing the petition, I clicked the link in the article where it takes you to the petition)

I always thought them to be somewhat impersonal but it's looking pretty good about now.

Good luck in getting a response from the Post Office. They'll see you're advocating the Christmas position and toss your email into the nut pile.

Probably like half the folks on this thread would.

Believe. Cherish. Create. Wish.
Filled with shining baubles, toys and hand-crafted ornaments the Believe Tree embodies the story book spirit of the holidays for children of all ages. Through richly designed fabrics, fine crystal and gold and silver embellishments, the Cherish Tree truly reflects elegant glory. Bringing nature's gifts indoors, the Create Tree fills a room with a warm and inviting mood for the coming holidays. With its graphic figures and modern colors, the Wish Tree stands at the center of a holiday party where fun and good humor flirt with traditional themes.

Actually considering this discourse on this thread, shouldn't your screen name or maybe your tag line read "VeniVidiVisa"?

I came, I saw, I shopped

Yeesh. That's harsh.

Personally, I love the bells, but I can understand how they would annoy some. That said, to call them annoying beggars seems a bit over the top. So, I am going to assume this is satire. Did I get it?

If not, I'm going to step aside for a moment so the ghost of Christmas future doesn't think it was me.

I went to Lowe's to buy a Christmas tree, but they didn't have any, just something they called "Holiday trees".
So I went somewhere else where I could buy what I was looking for.

Yup, used to play Twilight 2K a lot, good game. Never got into Traveller much but some of my friends did.

Is it the Target petition? I signed it last week so can't go there anymore! If not, I'll go sign whatever else too. Wonder if their stock is still going down like it did last Friday (I think it was on Friday).
