AgapePress) - An official with a pro-family group reports that a boycott campaign aimed at Target Stores nationwide has succeeded in attracting hundreds of thousands of consumers who say they intend to shop elsewhere during what is traditionally the busiest shopping weekend of the year.

On Friday (Nov. 18) the American Family Association (AFA) launched on online boycott campaign against Target, citing the retailer's decision to ban Salvation Army kettles from their store entrances as well as the use of "Merry Christmas" in their in-store promotions and retail advertising. By the following Monday, almost 300,000 individuals had "signed" an online petition indicating they planned to express their disapproval of that decision by avoiding Target Stores during the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. At press time, that number had jumped to more than 340,000

Actually there are quite a few Christian Chinese around the world. I believe the movie director John Woo is Catholic.

A number of Chinese restaurants in my city are closed on Sunday. This does not indicate they are necessarily Christian, I haven't bothered to ask.

Didn't the Chinese Restaurant in A Christmas Story help the family celebrate Christmas when the home cooked meal went wrong?

They do attempt to make people feel guilty for walking past them.

It annoys me and everyone else that prefers charities that help people without strings attached.

If you need some stuff, go to Target and Lowes.

I don't need anything from them that I can't find elsewhere. If I was in a pinch, I might shop there but not often.

Their political correctness is a turnoff, year round.

You're as only as guilty as you want to feel.

I've never been "hounded" by the bell ringers, nor do I feel guilty if I don't happen to have any cash I can throw into the bucket at any particular shopping moment.

LOL! Good one! "Deck the Harrs with Boughs of Horry - fa rah rah rah rah, rah rah rah rah!"

That reminds me..... I want to buy this DVD for us all to watch at Christmas. Which store should I choose to shop?

Churches that embrace same sex marriage and abortion are probably higher on the list of offenses.

They've been co-opted from within the organization.

We don't worship the trees at church. They are decoration. As as the poinsettas.

Didn't Mary find Jesus in the Temple? What makes you think He wouldn't be observant today?

You're in Michigan so I'm going to boycott since you're not coming to California with your garage. Fair enough? ;)

Well I would have recommended DeepDiscountDVD but their twice yearly additional 20% off sale just ended (normal prices are already 20% off retail, and shipping is free under some delivery rates).

There are a number of price search engines to direct you to the lowest priced vendor online.

Buying online means that you don't have to worry about some guy with a bell or someone saying a false greeting when they could care less about how you are doing today.

That's 2 strikes for me. The K-Mart here is a lousy place to shop. And I can't stand Martha Stewart.

And what the heck is a "Non-Lit Tree", for pete's sake?

OK, make that 3 strikes.

The religous conservatives have been making fools of themselves all year: from Terri Shiavo, to intelligent design, to this ridiculous demand that everyone in the world greet them with "Merry Christmas."

The sooner they leave the party, the better.

The temple was not the church. What would he be observant of? Isn't he the head stone? Would he be observant of himself? Did he eat the corn on the sabbath day? Did Jesus establish any holidays? Is the sabbath Saturday or Sunday? Was Christ born on December 25? I could go on and on, but I think these silly arguments have all been hashed and rehashed before! Let the pagans have their holidays, and let the believers have everyday as a testament to God. Doesn't it seem silly to honor God only one day a year? Silly pagans...

I take it you missed my remarks early in this thread.

"I will be buying a "Christmas Tree", from a merchant who sells "Christmas Trees", NOT "Holiday Trees".

I will be buying my "Christmas" gifts from merchants who have Salvation Army bell ringing Santas, and black kettles, in front of their stores."

WTG bump and I like your tagline!!

An ex-husband who had role as his former wife's guardian (he had abandoned the marriage as an "inconvenience" and shacked up with another woman) SAYS years later that she wanted to die. Her own parents offered to take custody and the husband refused. She was worth millions to him. In the absence of a legal document, his word was enough to have her starved to death.

In your view God may exist, but He had nothing to do with life in the universe. Must have come as a surprise. How did He evolve into being?

No FReepers are demanding that they be greeted at every business with Merry Christmas, but when an established retailed slowly changes their practices towards some groups and away from others, we will bring attention to this change when we are among the groups cast aside.

Awfully new to FR to be demanding that we leave the party. Maybe the RINOs should consider forming a third party since they aren't left enough to be socialist democrats these days but abhor Christians.
