AgapePress) - An official with a pro-family group reports that a boycott campaign aimed at Target Stores nationwide has succeeded in attracting hundreds of thousands of consumers who say they intend to shop elsewhere during what is traditionally the busiest shopping weekend of the year.

On Friday (Nov. 18) the American Family Association (AFA) launched on online boycott campaign against Target, citing the retailer's decision to ban Salvation Army kettles from their store entrances as well as the use of "Merry Christmas" in their in-store promotions and retail advertising. By the following Monday, almost 300,000 individuals had "signed" an online petition indicating they planned to express their disapproval of that decision by avoiding Target Stores during the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. At press time, that number had jumped to more than 340,000

All these companies bend over backwards for muslims, homos, etc., but a truly Christain holiday they refuse to use the term "Christmas"? I guess if these boycotts are sucessful they will be complaining that they didn't sell enough during, uhh, the holiday season.

If sales are down, the media will blame a "downturn in the Bush economy".

If the pagans want the tree, let em have it. Do you think Christ would care? It has nothing to do with him...

Fair enough. I just brought up the point to clarrify that I was not singling out Target (and I did mention that Wal-Mart had worked to correct the situation).

...and had an employee to reply to an email with a denial of Christmas (brought up the pagan origins of the holiday).

A new employee decided to respond to an email this way and was fired. Walmart did not have him do that, which was obvious just from reading the email itself, even before the employee was fired. No corporation would instruct an employee send out an email like that.

The "Walmart hates Christmas" idea is among the most pathetic of all the WalMart bashing talking points, and that says a lot.

We dont buy merchandise (other than food mostly) for Thanksgiving and New Years.

You mean you don't shop the after Thanksgiving and after New Year's Day sales for all those 1/2 price turkey day and new year day items that are needed to help celebrate the following year?

I always buy my turkey the day after to save for the next Thanksgiving Day :)

LOL - I caught that one too. WWJD? Well, for starters, Jesus would NOT be running around with a whip.

I didn't ask what Jesus would do, I stated my opinion, based on the record. The nonsense about Christmas presents is a complete fabrication by the retail industry. How does it possibly give honor to God? Please enlighten me.

I am sorry you disagre, but at least be courteous enough to ping me, so I don't just run by your hit post.

Jesus went to the temple, and saw the moneychangers, mocking God in His Holy place. This retail frenzy is just as much a mockery of the Holy One. What did Jesus do?

Target is honoring prosecutor Patrick Fitzegerald?

If they can find a suitable guy named Gerald Fitzpatrick, they can trot the happy couple out for Pride Month.

Do you think Christ cares if His followers choose to decorate a tree in His name - to honor Him and call it a Christmas tree?

I oppose political correctness. It is the liberal agenda and has infested industry as well as institutions of learning and government offices.

Political correctness is the left's assault on our 1st amendment freedoms. They will stop at nothing to destroy our country, starting with the Constitution.

You can look up the corporations that have had homosexual targeted advertising (and examples of the ads) on this site:

http://www.commercialcloset.org/cgi-bin/iowa/search.html

Note, some corporations are mentioned on this site for "negative" portrayals of cross-dressing and the like. You should look at the advertising of any company listed before deciding that their inclusion automatically means "support".

He held a position of authority to speak on behalf of Wal-Mart. They $&^#$ed up in granting him that authority.

He didn't circumvent the system to send a privately targeted piece of hatemail.

Have to wonder what other things he may have said in the course of his brief stay at Wal-Mart.

So when my Christian church decorates a Christmas tree each year in front of the altar in honor of Christ this is an abomination to Him?

" .... even though they're trying to make a buck off of your holidays?! Something about truth in retailing comes to mind."

Uh... Were you under the impression that retailers were in business for some reason other than making a buck? As long as they are not denegrating my religion (and they are not), I won't hold it against them.

The Chinese restaurant I go to does not celebrate Christmas. I still buy their food because it is what I want.

When I own the store, I'll deck the halls.

ABC and Target have had similar "outrages" generated when an employee in public relations took such a tone in an email response.

Christianity and Conservativism are not addressed in "diversity training" programs, otherwise they would know that it is not proper.

A better response for industry would be to have all outgoing communications to the public reviewed by a supervisor. ALWAYS.

But then they wouldn't be able to blame a fall guy.
