AgapePress) - An official with a pro-family group reports that a boycott campaign aimed at Target Stores nationwide has succeeded in attracting hundreds of thousands of consumers who say they intend to shop elsewhere during what is traditionally the busiest shopping weekend of the year.
On Friday (Nov. 18) the American Family Association (AFA) launched on online boycott campaign against Target, citing the retailer's decision to ban Salvation Army kettles from their store entrances as well as the use of "Merry Christmas" in their in-store promotions and retail advertising. By the following Monday, almost 300,000 individuals had "signed" an online petition indicating they planned to express their disapproval of that decision by avoiding Target Stores during the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. At press time, that number had jumped to more than 340,000

I used to work at Bank of America. They had a policy of promoting diversity groups which included Wiccan groups and Gay Lesbian and Transgendered. BoA also allows you to have your significant other to be covered by insurance, no matter there marital status of sex.
The problem of course is that Christ is NOT the reason for the season. Christmas is not even CLOSE to the only holiday is the holiday season. There's Thanksgiving, Hanukah, New Years and tons of other little holidays. Christ is the reason for YOUR version of the season, but you aren't the only shooper at Target or Lowes or any other of the THOUSANDS of retailers that use "Happy Holidays" because they know they've got a vast variety of customers. Oh and the whole story is based on LIES anyway, Target and Lowes both have TONs of CHRISTMAS trees. Don't boycott because of lies told to you.
Have to wonder when the backlash against Narnia will come.
"A plot by Christians to indoctrinate our children."
School bans.
Referring to it as "that fantasy movie that isn't Harry Potter".
Your joking right? "The problem of course is that Christ is NOT the reason for the season. Christmas is not even CLOSE to the only holiday is the holiday season."
You forgot Kwanza! 90% of America considers themselves Christian. Take Christians out of the scene and there is no "holiday". We dont buy merchandise (other than food mostly) for Thanksgiving and New Years. Are you from this planet or what? Next time try making an argument with facts not just stuff that you pull out of your libertarian bible.
I haven't seen the Democrats do anything to end illegal immigration and they had to give mock outrage at the emminent domain decision by the Supreme Court because their own base was disgusted by the decision by THEIR OWN JUSTICES.
"Christmas is not even CLOSE to the only holiday is the holiday season."
Your comment was so absurd I had to post again. This made me laugh. Hey lightbulb you have any idea how much is spent for Christmas day vs. all those others combined? It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. You know the song - "Dumb people got no reason...." or is that short people?
I'm not joking, I just grew up in a neighborhood that was about 50/ 50 Catholics and Jews so I understand that Christ is not the reason for the season as a whole. Christ is the reason for how one demographic behaves during the season.
Kwanzaa isn't a real holiday.
90% of Americans consider themselves good drivers too doesn't make it so.
Thanksgiving and New Years are part of the broadly defined "Holiday Season" they are the bookends, the Holiday Season starts with Thanskgiving, ends on New Years and covers all the holidays in between. Hence, "Happy Holiday Season" shortened to "Happy Holidays".
I've got nothing but facts, and you know it, which is why you immediately resorted to insults. The first to insult is always the one who knows the facts don't back them up.
Love it!!!!!!
Perhaps we Christians are the root of the problem when we make Christmas the most important day of the year.
So, illegal aliens are really just "differently immigrated!"
Nothing absurd about. Hey guy who needs to resort to insults becuase the facts don't back them up: act like an adult and admit you're wrong.
I know over 50% of my money spent during this season is spent for reasons other than Christmas, I mean besides my normal expenses even, because most of the people I'm buying gifts for this time of the year are Jewish or "none of the above".
More insults, more proof that you know you're wrong and have no facts to argue with. More proof of your own immaturity. Sad sad sad.
Then what other group besides Christian uses a "holiday tree" which had to be renamed because the name Christmas offended them.
Yeah, do any of the other seasonal holidays use a pine tree as part of the traditional celebration?
Well given that the Christmas tree was stolen from Norse practices and was renamed when adopted by Christians I guess that day came several HUNDRED years ago.
If you are going to lump all greetings from Halloween through New Year's Day with "Happy Holidays", you might as well just greet someone with "hello" since any other sentiment behind such words is false.
I shop with a lot of things in mind. Most of the Christian stores like Mardel's and Hobby Lobby are full of totally unnecessary stuff made in China. I can't avoid buying stuff from China but I can decide not to buy stuff I don't need from China. I always go to Ten Thousand Villages to Shop. I don't agree with a lot of the liberal policies of the churches that run it but I do believe that the items for sale there are part of a network which returns most of the money to the craftsmen. I also make gifts. and yes, I do occasionally shop at Target but not a lot. I think that the key is to focus on family relationships and faith. After that, I don't stress about boycotts. I know that the culture has a lot in it that disturbs me but I have little if any control over that. God is at work and he is in control. That's all I need to know.
I'm sorry for you and target. small "t"
However, our society is not endangered by the secular trappings of Christmas, nor by Christians who hold to extra-Biblical traditions. Secular humanism and its offspring, political liberalism and moral relativism, are the enemy of America and Christian-based civilization. The battle over Christmas is just one front in a decades old fight between the enemies of what true Christians and real Americans hold dear and those who wish to preserve and restore our republic and the traditional moral and social order.
If the good guys lose, we will face a future where the Gospel is suppressed by harsh, Soviet-like measures and where we will be forced to follow every whim of a ruling elite. The secular humanists started this war, but Christians must win it.
