Many object to the gifts and trinkets around which Christmas is associated. Nor has Christmas been universally accepted among Christians. The English Puritans and Scottish Presbyterians were opposed to the recognition of the holiday. The influence first of Anglicans and the Dutch Reformed and later of Lutherans and Catholics helped overcome the hostility to Christmas that existed in much of early America. Even today, some separatist fundamentalists and very conservative Calvinists denounce Christmas, pointing out the pagan origins of some of the symbols, such as the Yule log and the Christmas tree, and the absence of any evidence, Biblical or not, that Jesus Christ was born on December 25th.

However, our society is not endangered by the secular trappings of Christmas, nor by Christians who hold to extra-Biblical traditions. Secular humanism and its offspring, political liberalism and moral relativism, are the enemy of America and Christian-based civilization. The battle over Christmas is just one front in a decades old fight between the enemies of what true Christians and real Americans hold dear and those who wish to preserve and restore our republic and the traditional moral and social order.

If the good guys lose, we will face a future where the Gospel is suppressed by harsh, Soviet-like measures and where we will be forced to follow every whim of a ruling elite. The secular humanists started this war, but Christians must win it.

Your fight is misguided. Obviously, if pushing Christmas has brought us to this point, it's time to re-evaluate our battle plan. I don't think Christ would be pushing the issue. Christ won his battles in the backstreets, in the house of sinners and publicans, not in the markets and high places.

God said be in the world, but not of it. The salt has become unsavory, and it is thrown out to be trodden under the feet of men. Christmas in its form today has lost most of its meaning, and by continuing to force it down the throats of the people will only cause greater damage. Gods plan will not be altered, and all things must come to pass.
