Regarding Senator John Kerry's comments this morning (November 19, 2005) on Good Morning America's Weekend edition, where he said of President Bush and the War in Iraq, "What we need is a little more commander-in-chief, and a little less campaigner-in-chief,”...let's see, Mr. Kerry, President Bush took us to war in Iraq as the Commander in Chief. In the midst of that war, he defeated you in a presidential election where this very issue was the principle part of the deabte...and he defeated you with the largest voter turnout in the history of this country, by a clear majority. In that time and since, our military and diplomats, under his command and leadership, have:
No, Mr. Kerry, your lame attempts to paint this historical mission and tremendous victory in negative terms and throw that negativity on the very leader who had the foresight and the commitment, in the face of abject corrupt opposition abroad and here at home, do not "carry" (or should that be "Kerry") any weight of moral certitude whatsoever. These attempts by yourself and others to try and use your political position to influence us to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory and, "cut and run", are nothing Moore than odorous political gas passing in the wind.
- Completed the fastest, most effective military advance in military history.
- Defeated the 4th or 5th largest military in the world in quick fashion.
- Freed 30 million people from abject tyranny.
- Deposed one of the most ruthless tyrants of the last fifty years, along with his Ba'athist party.
- Destroyed all attempts by the remaining Ba'athists and their terrorist allies to regain the upper hand, killing the tyrant's two sons and capturing him in the process.
- Secured the vast majority of the nation and handed sovereignty back to the Iraqi people on schedule.
- Held the 2nd largest, freest vote in Iraqi history to vote on their own interim government, in the face of and despite terrorist attempts to thwart and disrupt that process.
- Had the interim Iraqi government develop and introduce a republican constitution on schedule, in the face of and despite terrorist attempts to thwart and disrupt that process.
- Held the largest free vote in Iraqi history to approve the constitution that the interim government proposed, with even the Sunni minority now participating in that vote, in the face of and despite terrorist attempts to thwart and disrupt that process.
- Assisted the Iraqis themselves in putting the former tyrant on trial for his crimes.
- Are preparing for what will undoubtedly be the new largest vote in Iraqi history to elect their own government under their new constitution, again, in the face of and despite terrorist attempts to thwart and disrupt that process.
- Trained an Iraqi military that is now actively taking major support and lead roles in fighting for their own free nation against their terrorist enemies, losing many more of their own lives, and spilling more of their own blood in that process than our own soldiers.
You have raised an excellent point. Iraq is poised on the cusp of a tremendous potential opportunity to become what I have referred to as "the Jewel of the Middle-East". Just as the spark existed there six-thousand years ago in what we call the "Fertile Crescent" where the beginning of human civilization occurred, there is now also a fortuitous confluence of factors that could spark a similar rebirth of human achievement.
There are huge problems and obstacles to overcome, but there are also the advantages of great natural wealth: large oil reserves, fertile soil and a climate advantageous for agriculture, and the abundance of water from the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Not the least is the Iraqi peoples themselves. They are much better educated on the whole than the populations of other countries in the region, they have already had a taste of the benefits of cosmopolitan Western-style civiliation (even before the Ba'athists took over), and the decades of oppression they have endured since have left them with a hunger for the freedom and opportunity to build a better life once again for themselves and their children.
All this potential is admittedly hanging by a thread right now, and could be snuffed-out if we allow the enemies of freedom, (whether they call themselves Ba'athists, Islamicists, Democrats, or other totalitarian wannabes) to regain the upper hand. That glowing spark of renascent freedom and economic opportunity (*Note - those two things are inseparable) must be fanned until it can burn on its own.
That is why we must stay the course. Furthermore, since the only way we can fail is if we lose the battle here at home, what that really means is that losing that chance for freedom and opportunity for the Iraqis also means losing it for ourselves. It might take a little longer here, but the direction will be set, and the outcome inevitable.
Amen, Tonk.
Can you imagine the spawn of those two? Good Lord, how did Al-Sheehadi and Jackson attain the staus they have? One is a race baiting poverty pimp (A term I learned here) and the other is drugged out granola eater whose inability to speak in complete sentences should have wiped her of the media map a long time ago. Yet both of them command the media prescence that should be reserved for heros like soldiers of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, or the members of numerous medical guard units. These same units that treat Iraqis with the same dedication and care reserved for a wounded soldier. The dishonor displayed against people who sacrafices gives me goosebumps, is akin to John Kerry Kerry claiming he could have done a better job. It is my fervent hope that the line of MSM and Democrats waiting at the Pearly Gates are told in minute detail EXACTLY why they are being denied entry..
Bump this to the top
You speak much truth.
Bump!

Add me to the list of those right wing females who cannot stand post menapausal lefty females who are content with premature evacuation.

Last night was the blueprint, the template to use, and the way to answer critics.
Time to take off the gloves. And to speak plainly.
Jeff---Superb summary of the victorious freedom energizing actions of Bush-Cheney team.
Can you add the Afghan Liberation as well as the Khadafi - let me be gentle - change of heart.
Bump!
Awesome post as always, Jeff. The hypocrisy from the left just makes my head spin sometimes. You spelled things out beautifully.
Translation: Fairly representative of the Democrat party in all its disgusting depravity (IMO).
At least that's the way the media treats them.
?;^T
I speak straight as arrow...
