"The Democrats are even less popular than him and the election is NOT to be read as a voter endorsement of the way they run things up in Sacrememto"
It does seem to be a small miracle that 75 is passing in spite of all the money the lefties spent to defeat it. I think the one big mistake Arnold made was that he didn't answer the attack ads sooner. The dems have had commercials with frowning nurses, teachers, and firemen, proclaiming how Arnold wants to "hurt" them; running for months unanswered.
I would have to agree that overall it's a victory considering just how left this state is.

Yep....just posted Orange County for interest.

The precinct totals on the CA SOS site are screwed up. How can there be more than 300,000 votes in in LA County and zero precincts?

Nope....you just got atwittered. : )

Remember, though, it's still early, less than 20% counted, and then all those absentee ballots, and maybe even a recount (I assume Californians do recounts)....

As another sign that San Francisco is really another planet: the only county that is voting FOR prop 80!
To: furquhart
Absentee votes do not reflect in the precinct count.
Word is that 40% of the votes will be cast via absentee.

Absentee ballots mailed back were historically not allocated to precincts for reporting purposes, and they were usually counted first.

I will laugh so hard if the unions lose. They lied to their members & the public so blatantly they deserve to go down in flames. I hope they do & it wakes them up to see that they are way out of step with their members. PLus, they will be losing that $60 each year from every member who doesn't give permission. Sweeeet.

There was early voting. Maybe all of these votes were tallied quickly as soon as the polls closed.

I voted NO on both 78 & 79. They were both bad ideas.78 is bad, but 79 is much worse...and this is California. If 78 passes by just a little with 79 not having enough to pass by itself I will feel bad, but if 79 would have passed except for being beaten by 78 I will feel vindicated.

That's not the turn-out. That's the percentage of precincts that have reported so far.
