Official Election Day 2005 Watch [Live Thread]
Shameless Vanity Post | November 8, 2005 | BillyBoy

Posted on 11/07/2005 11:46:41 PM PST by BillyBoy

My Fellow FReepers,

As it now past midnight (well at least for those of us in Central Standard Time) and I did a general search and couldn't find a single thread dedicated to election 2005, I have taken the liberty of creating one.

THIS is the place to post all your updates and discussions on '05 races around the country. From the Boston Mayoral Race to the fight for Virginia Attorney General, keep the adrenaline flowing here.

Will the GOP make a midterm gubernatorial comeback after suffering through the 2001 "mistakes" of McGreeley and Mark Warner? Will Ahnuld, the CA Dummycrats, or independent minded conservatives emerge triumph in California's latest (but not greatest!) "special election"? Will the liberal incumbent crush his equally liberal challenger in New York? And do conservatives even care?

Let's get the discussion rolling folks. You heard it here first!

I understand them perfectly. And they are accurate. Tonight's polls were widely accurate.

Do we understand you to say that the polls for tonight's elections were pretty much on target?

Just want to make everyone fully comprehends the gist of your remarks...

Bush's approval does matter.

If he doesn't have the public confidence he can't lead effectively. If the public cools to him they may take it out on the GOP.

It does matter, especially if deficiencies cost us political power.

What's issue 1? I know issue 2-5 is the crap the libs tried to shove down your throat, but I haven't heard of issue 1.

Issue 1 is crap the Taft wing of the Republican Party tried to shove up our butts. Unfortunately, that issue might succeed. It combined improvements to roads and other infratructure with state investment in private initiatives -- something outlawed in this State since the mid-1800s. Leave it to Taft to introduce this Euro-style "investment" to our state.

oceanview. Hillary will get 95% of the african american vote anyway. why pick Obama, to get 98%?

Redbob. Wow, you just hit one out of the park!

The Dims won't EVER pick a black candidate, will they? Not just to pick up that other 3 or 4% of the 12%, eh?

Indeed, a very astute observation that offers insight on par with Rush.

Corzine doesn't care about making NJ a red state. Corzine just knows he has a better chance running for president as an anti-war, Dem Governor than as a Senator. That's how he "distinguishes" himself.

That is one reason why the Dems are trying to pack the States with Dems Gov

The other IMO .. the Gov picks Judges for the state court

Yeah and the people say to themselves-- it ain't gonna affect me, he'll carry it out with a frown on his face as opposed to kilgore smiling. It was a dump thing to get mired in.

The people of Virginia int heir infinite wisdom voted for divided Government. The Republicans in the State Legislature will keep Kaine under control...

That is really good news. Ohio was a state I was worried about. Glad to hear the results there, be assured the Democrats are not. :-)

Amen. Byrd is one of the 11 senate democrats in solid Red States that may well be replaced with a Republican next year. That would sure marginalize the RINOs adding a few of those 11 seats. Eventually, ALL 11 of those seats will be GOP seats. That makes the current RINO seats unimportant.

well, show us the consensus polls for the VA and NJ races - let's compare it to the results, and we'll talk.

not sure what is going to happen in CA - the polls were far off for the special election of Arnold.

I've been following all you mentioned - too bad the MSM isn't doing their jobs and REPORTING IT! I'm not sure how (because the MSM barely covers it and/or changes it to fit the DNC talking points) but the Admin has got to start getting the word out. I've said it before on other posts - Scott McClellan appears to be a nice guy, and I don't wish for him to lose his employment, but he either needs to put the WH press corps(e) in their places and get the word out and quit giving that 'deer in the headlights' look or move on. We need a General Honore in their right now (and for the past several months) <rant off

I was bumming about some of those issues passing today. For this Ohian it's a great election day. Plus my city just replaced two spendthrifts with two conservatives on the city council.

And don't forget the fact that the Dems have their best shot, now, at any "off" period election. They've learned that from 2002.
