My Fellow FReepers,
As it now past midnight (well at least for those of us in Central Standard Time) and I did a general search and couldn't find a single thread dedicated to election 2005, I have taken the liberty of creating one.
THIS is the place to post all your updates and discussions on '05 races around the country. From the Boston Mayoral Race to the fight for Virginia Attorney General, keep the adrenaline flowing here.
Will the GOP make a midterm gubernatorial comeback after suffering through the 2001 "mistakes" of McGreeley and Mark Warner? Will Ahnuld, the CA Dummycrats, or independent minded conservatives emerge triumph in California's latest (but not greatest!) "special election"? Will the liberal incumbent crush his equally liberal challenger in New York? And do conservatives even care?
Let's get the discussion rolling folks. You heard it here first!
How about the military vote from overseas? We never heard what happened to their votes in OH.
I don't care what the initial numbers are. FL proved to me that the Dem areas are always counted first. That said, regardless of the President's numbers and exit polls, I feel the GOP is going to win tonight. Just hang tight and breathe, y'all.
The Democrats retaining 2 governorships isn't instructive of anything.
All I'm seeing is that many Freepers can't engage in their favorite pasttime - discounting polls showing Bush in the 35-40 approval rating range.
It's pathological.
Thanks, I see this one, but CA needs a thread of its own. :)
"All I am saying is that there is a perception in America that Dubya sucks, and to a lesser extent so does the GOP. That perception isn't recognized on FR. I hope the gang at the White House recognizes it."
I think the bigger problem for the GOP is the widely shared opinion that there isn't a scintilla of difference between the two parties. And it's conservatives that are beating that drum.
My personal prediction from last week was that Kaine would win in VA. But it's looking like I was wrong when I thought it would be a squeaker. The problem isn't that the Democrats are making all that big of inroads, it's that conservatives in Virginia don't think it's worth the time spent fighting traffic to cast a ballot for the GOP.
its open, the thread had 3 posts on it before it was pulled. I wrote down the address fast, I will find it and send it to you.
:)
It's ahead 74-26 early Statewide.
Check here for Texas Results

Alexandria, VA is known as "Moscow on the Potomac".
They'll hype the Dem's gloatting. Bet on it.
Rassmussen was embarrassed in 2000, but did get it right in 2004.
I'd say it's difficult to know if his 2004 results were because he's a good pollster or because he just got lucky.
The MSM will take what happens and run with it, but in no way can this be spun as a decent thing for the GOP. A loss here would not be a good sign.
Did anyone ask Tom Davis to run for governor? He would have done much better in Northern Virginia.
*Scratches head in consternation*
;-)
NJN (PBS station) reporting the same as News12:
Forrester 51%
Corzine 47%
(6% precinct results)
Bret Schundler on NJN right now.
No, I hear you. That being said, I do think too many Freepers have too many excuses for the poor polling - rigged polls, oversampling, whatever.
It's very clear that the pres and GOP are not popular right now.
