Official Election Day 2005 Watch [Live Thread]
Shameless Vanity Post | November 8, 2005 | BillyBoy

Posted on 11/07/2005 11:46:41 PM PST by BillyBoy

My Fellow FReepers,

As it now past midnight (well at least for those of us in Central Standard Time) and I did a general search and couldn't find a single thread dedicated to election 2005, I have taken the liberty of creating one.

THIS is the place to post all your updates and discussions on '05 races around the country. From the Boston Mayoral Race to the fight for Virginia Attorney General, keep the adrenaline flowing here.

Will the GOP make a midterm gubernatorial comeback after suffering through the 2001 "mistakes" of McGreeley and Mark Warner? Will Ahnuld, the CA Dummycrats, or independent minded conservatives emerge triumph in California's latest (but not greatest!) "special election"? Will the liberal incumbent crush his equally liberal challenger in New York? And do conservatives even care?

Let's get the discussion rolling folks. You heard it here first!

22 out of 39 counties have reported which is an accumulative of 56.4103% of all counties.

11.5% of the votes counted.

Prop. 73: Yes-52.9%
Prop. 74: Yes-52.1%
Prop. 75: Yes-56.3%

Everything else is failing.

based on the rise of the Internet and the fall of the MSM

As much as I love Free Republic and other members of the "New Media", I'm not so deluded that I believe we have more influence than the networks and the Liberal fishwraps.

No, you're just hypcricial enough to criticize me when I say that we have a long way to go. Yet, you admit that more people are still influenced by the networks and the liberal fishwrap.

You defend these people. I call them embarrasing.

Go figure.

Thanks SS, I've just tried to follow WA races, too (listening to KVI radio w John, Kirby, and Brian). IMHO they did exactly entitle some of the initiatives correctly - as an example, 901 - "Clean Indoor Air Act" - it should be can the government take away my rights as a business owner to allow or not allow smoking. AND, once they do, what will be next that they will want to control and/or take away.

It looks like Sims (the one who took away the use of our property rights) is winning in King County - big surprise there (not) that a Dim wins as KC Exec. (even a Dim who is a VERY BAD leader)

Prop. 73 and 74 are close enough that once all the liberal areas come in, they might flip.

Prop. 75 though...might be able to make it.

Too bad we can't gerrymander King County to be tied to San Fran, huh? ;-)

The initiatives were not well worded at all. I'm going to blame the wording especially if the tax is not repealed. It keeps going back and forth, currently negative.

If close, I'm sure the DNC will find a way to change the result though. The smoking ban was pretty easy to call. Wrong, but even "conservatives" in this state support it. Granted it's not illustrated for what it really is, as you outlined, but I had no high expectations there.

Oh here we go again. Someone else telling me they are right because they've been on this forum for years. I didn't ask for your internet resume' so just keep it. Your take on the situation does NOT jibe with fact and voting trends. If the best the demcorats can do is NOT lose what was theirs already in off year elections then they're in serious trouble. And as Deb pointed out, REAGAN couldn't even get a Republican Gov. of VA while he was President, and Neither could W four years ago with an 80%+ approval rating. Kaine winning there tonight proves nothing other than if the GOP had fielded a better team, they likely would have won, considering the Lt.Gov is NOW a Republican because he won and THAT is a pick up for the GOP! How does THAT fit with your doom and gloom huh? 8)

Preach on all you want, but you and HitmaNY keep on failing to address the many points put to you that contradict what you say, and you keep putting forward the same tired things like no one is even responding. Believe what you want. I choose to be positive and base my opinions on what I see with my own eyes, not what someone else tells me they "think". 8) I'll be happy to talk about it with you again this time next year after the GOP has gained 3 to 6 seats in the House and 2 to 4 seats in the Senate.

And if Stevens and/or Ginsburg retire or "depart" before then, I'd add to that ratio as the ensuing BIGGEST political battle in the history of the country to replace one of them with a strict constructionist Justice, would add to those margins for the GOP because the conservative movement would be EVEN MORE fired up with that victory which would create the most conservative SC since before FDR screwed it up with all his democrat justices. Believe it or not, but next November, if things continue as they have the past couple weeks, you can bank on it.

Your total lack of respect for those who do not walk in lock step with what you think is the only thing that is stunning here. I don't care if you've been here for 50 years before algore created the internet. If you've been here so long that makes your lack of respect and courtesy all the more disappointing. I'd expect more of a long time FReeper, which is what I've seen from the OVERWHELMING majority of people I've talked to here. From what I've seen the past three months, you are the exception, NOT the rule.

Your total lack of respect for those who do not walk in lock step with what you think is the only thing that is stunning here.

I give the same level of respect as I get. If you don't like then don't disrespectfully post.

Someone else telling me they are right because they've been on this forum for years.

You accused me of disrupting conservative and Republican morale. I responded and defended myself by saying that I've posted many years on this forum doing anyting but disrupting conservative morale.

If you don't like me telling you how many years I've posted on this forum in a manner that is the opposite of your accusation, then don't make such a false accusation.

These are very simple rules of courtesy that you don't get.

"So tell me genius how that is anything short of embarrassing?"

"Take your chicken-little strawman and stick it elsewhere."

Oh THAT'S rational debating skills at work. Yeah. Whatever. If that's how you've learned to respond after being here for several years, sometime around 2025 you might be civil and able to prove a point without being personally insulting. MAYBE.
