Paris/France burns, Live thread (night #10)

Posted on 11/05/2005 9:39:59 AM PST by Dane

It is now getting dark in Paris and in all of France(appx. 6:40 PM Paris Time), and if there are any French FR lurkers(lurquers), this may be the thread to post your reports about any further violence.

It seems the French govt. is impotent in it's response to what seems are jihadist thugs and it seems the American media has put a news blackout filter to what is really happening, so as not to embarass their heroes, Chirac et al.

So any news reports or personal reports from what happens tonight are welcome, and don't worry about broken English, reports in French are welcome also, I have no doubt someone can translate.

I really dread putting up a live thread about such a matter, but it seems that the American MSM is following French govt. orders to play down to what it seems is an insurrection.

No problem there. I still have wondered if we used the samllest tactical nuclear warhead we have, and dropped it squarely on Medina, with a message following that if there is anymore islamst terrorism ANYWHERE, ONE SINGLE CAR BOMB, ONE SINGLE ROAD SIDE BOMB, ANYWHERE, mecca is next, and then other muslim holy places down the list, if that would get the point across. It's not like they respect other holy places. They attack Churches, they attack Synagogues. They attack their own mosques. But, we can't just use nukes first. It would make us as bad as them. Still, I wonder. And I am VERY glad that Bush made it clear that if a nuclear device is ever used in the United States, we WOULD retaliate in kind. THAT is the right way to go. Let them know that if they want to play with the big boys, with big boy toys, we have more, and we've known how to use them longer. And maybe we're bluffing, but just maybe we're NOT. THAT is how you deal with sub-human garbage like these muslims. It's not the ability to totally and completely kick their a***s that is paramount. It is almost as equally as important that they KNOW you can totally and completely kick their a***s if you so coose. Both are VERY important. The ability, AND the willingness to do so. Both are critically necessary.

"You can't conduct a War on Terrorism with the hopes of spreading democracy to the middle east and Afghanistan if you hate and despise all Muslims and Arabs."

I don't hate them so much as I distrust the majority due to their silence in the face of what those in their groups keep doing. I'm not sure if their silence is due to their agreement and support of their radicals, or fear of retaliation from their radicals.

We have Muslims and Arabs fighting the good fight along side us in Iraq, thanks for the reminder. My interest is in exterminating those who would exterminate mine before they get that chance. Laws and tolerance are only nice if you are alive to enjoy their benefit's.

I hear that the Scandinavian countries are chock full of jihadis these days. That's something to watch, too.

Thanks for the post. Chirac and Villepin are their toughest, I suppose, with their mistresses (and graft couriers). No time, really, for rioters.

Vik;

They were probably legal immigrants, too.

Pretty soon Dane will be making a post calling you a pitchforker for questioning him or his rationale.

Your above still doesn't solve your quandry of why islamicists in France are throwing bricks, while Christian Hispanics are laying them.

BTW, I'll leave you with a quote from Sen. mary landrieu(D-LA).

“I am not going to level criticism at local and state officials. Mayor Nagin, and most mayors in this country, have a hard time getting their people to work on a sunny day, let alone … in front of a hurricane.”

Hey, the NY Times article today assured me that 'the violence so far has nothing to do with religion.'

Whew, glad that's settled!!! (sarcasm alert)

"The events in France may turn out to have a greater strategic impact than September 11. French policies, however maddening, had the virtue of serving as the control case to the American experiment of attempting to reform the Islamic world. The latter acknowledged, however shyly, that it was facing an aggression which had to be met at the root; which had to be resolved by building viable societies in Islamic homelands. The former, and France in particular, maintained there was nothing that temporizing and appeasement, in one form or another, could not solve. What events in France have done is discredit the liberal recipe so badly that even those who are not prepared to admit that American policy may have been right must now root around for an alternative theory. Fukuyama's essay [quoted extensively by Wretchard] is a good step in that direction. Faster please."

My thoughts exactly! Deserves repetition.

"Thats reassuring but when did 900 cars get torched within 10 days in Oakland?"

No, but I don't know if the claim of 900 in Paris is any different then the claim of many murders in the Superdome.
The media today, as we have learned, has zero credibility.
As a foreign resident of Paris, he says the media accounts are way overblown, and he is not at all worried for now.

No news yet, it's still early in Paris(appx. 10:20 PM). Last night the french govt. was saying "all was well" and things were being overblown, but more cars and buildings were set on fire, than Thursday night.

The Ministry of Social Cohesion and the mediatistas anticipate calm and tranquillity tonight, as they do every day about this time.
Is there any way to make Claude Rains the Minister of Social Cohesion?
