Paris/France burns, Live thread (night #10)

Posted on 11/05/2005 9:39:59 AM PST by Dane

It is now getting dark in Paris and in all of France(appx. 6:40 PM Paris Time), and if there are any French FR lurkers(lurquers), this may be the thread to post your reports about any further violence.

It seems the French govt. is impotent in it's response to what seems are jihadist thugs and it seems the American media has put a news blackout filter to what is really happening, so as not to embarass their heroes, Chirac et al.

So any news reports or personal reports from what happens tonight are welcome, and don't worry about broken English, reports in French are welcome also, I have no doubt someone can translate.

I really dread putting up a live thread about such a matter, but it seems that the American MSM is following French govt. orders to play down to what it seems is an insurrection.

Even the journalists know it's not a good idea to enter this quagmire.

Here's a general thought on rioting and police response, including not only Paris now but also shennanigans in Argentina and wherever else any sort of summit is held. And including also the mobs of kids that circle around downed copters in Iraq or otherwise are shown rejoicing when American troops are killed. Why don't police (and in Iraq the American military) use nonwashable paint projectiles on everyone in sight - and then arrest everyone with the color stain on them in days to come at their leisure? Otherwise police (and military) are reluctant to use any kind of force, not only bullets but even rubber bullets, stun guns, etc.

LOL. I know what you mean, Psycho_Bunny, I've been logging on with regularity throughout my 5 day mini vacation to read this stuff, even though I had vowed to stay away from the computer and internet during my time off. But this is all just too delicious to pass up.

Your example is not quite accurate. The french that were in the resistence movement against the nazis were a VERY small minority of the population. And that has no reflection on modern france. All the french bashing is talking about recent history, the past few decades, when they have been nothing but opponants to U.S. foreign policy, and placating the muslims of the world, sympathizing with the palestinian squatters against Israel, and on and on and on. What the french did during the Revolutionary War 230 years ago is not at issue. The fact that they have been against us in the War on Terror, and opposed us going into iraq because of their complicity in the tens of billions they gave to hussein in the 90s IS at issue. The france of the 40s and the 1790s is gone. And the france of today is a socialist leaning, anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, anti-U.S. france and they FULLY AND COMPLETELY DESERVE every bit of this destruction. They planted the crop, thumbing their nose at criticism, and now they're reaping the bitter harvest. You are making a mistake defending them and arguing with the people here who recognize that this is a problem of france's own making, that they had been warned about. Ever since the french haven't needed us to cover their heinees and protect them from the Soviets, they've been nothing but obnoxious and arrogant with American policy and it's peopel, enabling the very behavior that is now biting them in the butt.

"They blame unemployment, racial prejudice and widespread youth boredom for the outbursts."

Blame, blame, blame, blame, blame.

They should be blaming themselves for not sticking up for themselves. Silliness.

....agree with you 100 percent. I get really tired of the French bashing here....

I'm of French ancestry and I bash them all the time in the hopes that they will wake up. So far it does not seem to be working.

"Seems to me all this muslim rioting and destruction in france SURE helps the Bush administration policy against terrorism and extremist islamists, and hurts liberal democrat opposition to the Bush administrations stand on those things"

Oh, the French are the Democrats' best buddies. The French are the Democrats' example of everything good, pure, and noble. Just ask Jean Francois Kerry. Or Joseph Wilson the Fourth.

I have that same feeling. Although it would be easy to laugh at them I will resist the urge knowing there must be some conservatives there somewhere.
That and it doesnt benefit my long term goals to see the mu-slums take ANY country over.

This could be considered a learning experience for them, but they are in denial even at the 10th day.

Thank you for your reply.

“…Also, please know it is a bunch of communists doing the same in this country.”

Yes, exactly. I think about that all the time. It really bothers me because the MSM gives those loonies full coverage as if the entire U.S. were on fire.

My best regards.

You're kidding right? Are you even familiar with french policy since the end of the Cold War? Don't even attempt to say that American joking about the french predolection towards surrender and appeasement is more offensive than the LONG TIME arrogance and snobbery of the french towards Americans. france has had this coming a LONG time. They're mostly arrogant obnoxious smug a-holes who live in the fantasy world that france is still a world power. Were it not for their U.N. Security council seat, france would have no more world importance than Luxembourg. If the french people are as nice and conservative as you claim, perhaps they should have thought twice before handing their government to a socialist leaning terrorist appeasist, anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, anti-American government who works with Americas enemies more than with America. Your post is VERY off the mark and it would be nice if you would recognize the fact that france is now paying for the things they've done in recent years and their total lack to stand up for liberty and democratic principles. If they'd of been a good little minor power and done what we'd suggested after 9-11, they wouldn't be going through this crap right now. The way I see it, the evidence is clear. We dropped the hammer after 9-11, no more domestic attacks in over four years. frenchie french did it there way, opposing us, turning their noses up at us, and now, who's streets, cars, and buildings are burning? NOT America's. That's for dang sure.

This all sure helps the Bush policy and the stand against islam. Obviously why the msm hates to talk about it.

Yes, but it is far more than that.

The main reason that the dying, Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms in this country try to spike any stories about Old Europe's multitude of miserable failures - - stagnant economies, rampant unemployment, decaying infrastructures, bankrupt governments, failed welfare states, failed appeasement policies, etc. - - is because it reflects so badly on their own party's agenda to import Euro-style secular socialism to America.

These newsrooms' conscious decision to avoid reporting on the current intifadas in France and Denmark are just the tip of the iceberg. Expect the dying, liberal "mainstream" newsrooms here to spend considerably more time "reporting" about the anti-Bush protests in South America and Panama over the next week or so. That's the kind of stuff that's right down their alley.

Meanwhile, citizens who care to keep themselves informed will stay tuned right here at Free Republic and other internet sources, as well as talk radio and cable news. Nobody who truly takes their news seriously watches the networks or reads the New York Times, lol. Nobody.
