In a shameful attack on freedom of religion, the University of WisconsinEau Claire (UWEC) has banned resident assistants (RAs) from leading Bible studies in their own dormitories.
The university claims the ban is necessary because some students might not feel RAs who lead Bible studies are "approachable.

The RAs and RMs are employed by the university, not by the government. This is not a socialist country.
That has nothing to do with your job. Being an RA you have to have a relationship with all the other students.
Ouch!
Former RA here and married to a former RA, and we don't consider ourselves losers.
As a matter of fact, if I hadn't been an RA there would be one less person on this earth right now. I saved a girl's life as an RA.
If it's a public university they are... if it's private, then it's whatever the school's regulations are.
"If you are going to restrict what the RA's do behind closed doors in their own rooms"
I'm not going to do any such thing. I don't work at a university. I have nothing to do with any such rules.
I was complaining about a misleading headline. As far as I'm concerned, RAs should be able to lead whatever kind of studies they like. At least someone would be studying something in the dorm...a rare activity.
Bless you!
I didn't see the ping yet I guess,or having a major blonde moment.
It's hard to believe that this is happening in America.
"I saved a girl's life as an RA."
Excellent job! I'm sure it happens a lot, at least with good RAs who are on good terms with the residents.
Yes, but my health!!!!!!
Very loud GRRRRR.
Did you sign up today just to post that?
Apparently we redneck conservatives just don't understand the left's "educated, progressive" thinking process... ;)
There is no way the college would allow an R.A. to sponsor a porn showing.
I know it does. As with every job, there are good people and bad people doing the job. I'm sorry the poster I was replying to had a bad experience with RA's.
No.
Anything else?
I understand America is 85% Christian. What's the big deal? And what's wrong with the Bible? And why would someone who leads Bible study groups be "unapproachable?" Wouldn't just the opposite be true?
You know, there are a lot of question marks in this post of mine!
The undertone is here that R.A.s are expected to deal with students who are sexually active or considering sex, and may be charged with making condoms available. The college is probably worried that an R.A. who makes himself a Christian leader within the dorm would not be trusted by students who are testing their limits (and in some cases, the law) with sex and alcohol. The point of R.A.s is that they're the "cool" front line of defense for an administrator expected to keep these students from killing themselves by doing something stupid.
And to anticipate the response I'll get to that, loads of freshmen have sex and drink beer their freshman year without dying as a result, so I don't think that taking away an R.A. they're comfortable talking to would actually save lives.
The mentally ill/criminally insane leftists/professional secularists/aggressive atheists/feminists/gay agenda promoters etc are rabid. They are pushing hard.
The reason they have gained so much ascendency is conservatives' weakness and lack of moral courage.
"Liberalism, in its extreme form, is not a political philosophy, but rather a mental disorder." - Dr. Michael Savage
Are they banning Christians from being R.A.s, or simply telling them they can't lead Bible studies with some of their students? Two different things.
Savage is right about that, but with the way he rants and raves, I'm not sure he can call anything a mental disorder.
