Per Fox News...
Ms.Plame has not operated as a covert CIA agent in about nine years. One of her former bosses at the agency said that Ms.Plame made no bones about being a CIA employee - She told friends and neighbors. In fact, reporter Andrea Mitchell noted that "all the journalist knew" Valerie Plame worked for the CIA. If Ms. Plame's CIA status was supposed to be a secret, then it was surely an "open secret".
I have been saying "if" for Libby, but "if" he did lie and that is a big "if" to the GJ and FBI, then he deserves the fate he will get in a jury trial.
I don't condone lying to the FBI and GJ and I don't care who it is. I am not going to put Libby up on a pedestal "if" he did lie and attack the special prosecutor. I want more facts!
I think this is not right what he is doing.
He's coming out with this information and Libby has no way to defend himself.
Well if that's the case, why don't the reports (at least 3) trump Fitzgerald's one report that she was outted?
We have several reports she wasn't covert:
1) Judge Napolitano says Wilson introduced Plame at parties as his CIA agent wife.
2) Andrea Mitchell reports that everyone knew she was a CIA agent.
3) Plame's former boss reports she wasn't covert.
4) Some of Plame's neighbors were interviewed early on and said they knew what she was.
5) Articles posted on FR say that Alrdich Ames outted her in '94.
6) She hadn't been overseas in over 5 years so she could not be covert within the US.
7) The indictment itself mentions she was classified, an entirely different category than covert. If I worked as a typist for the WMD section of the CIA and typed classified information, my job status would be deemed "Classified".
So we have 3 reporters, none friendly to the administration, who have told a different story than Libby. I'm not terribly inclined to believe them over Libby, just as you aren't inclined to believe 1-7 above over Fitzgerald.
I'm not trying to be argumentative with you lugsoul, but common sense tells me that the husband of a covert agent does not go overseas on a sensitive national security mission and come back and report lies about the administration and the mission in the New York Times and expect that his "covert" wife will remain so for very long.
He DiD!!
I can't believe this
This guy is just saying a bunch of words. Not really TELLING anything.
Libby was essentially at the end of a long line of phone calls. Libby told the FBI that Russert's info struck him as new.
IF RUSSERT KNEW, THEN PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY KNEW THAT SHE WORKED FOR THE CIA!!!!!!!!!
NO CRIME!
I guess Fitzgerald is trying this case right now at the press conference.
Another dumb move not to have a criminal attorney for his advisor.
Two years, and it's come down to sheer, pure, unadulterated BS.
Who told Russert?
Who told Novak?
etc.
Fitzgerald could have saved taxpayer money and time if he had just read FR.
ROve et al will just clam up and not give the press any interviews.....Will serve them right....No interviews...No stories....No job.
It's possible Fitz is just covering for himself. 2 years, he has to do something.
He shouldn't be nervous at all.....unless Hillary's sent him a "Meet me at Marcy Park".
Plus, Robert Novak has always said that when he called the CIA to verify her status...that they asked him NOT to reveal her in his column...but he did anyway.
What is up with that...and why didn't he get in trouble..if her status was so "classifed"????
Thanks for the link! Disinformation artist to keep em' confused?
I love that throw-away about Scotter also being an advisor to the President. Nothing like trying to pull W in...
