Sandy Berger made a deal so not to go to trial.
Libby could do the same.
What he did was wrong if reports are true that he lied to the GJ, and I am not going to spin it -- you don't lie to a GJ no matter the reason. I went after the Clintons hard and I am not giving Libby a pass because he works for Cheney.
Libby did this to himself by talking to Cooper in the first place. Why leak -- why not just come out and call Wilson a liar?
Sounds like Libby was protecting the VP more than trying to burn Wilson. Wilson was already making stuff up on the media circus when he was talking to Corn even before his OPED.
The investigation would have been over in 2 days if it was a settled issue that she wasn't covert.
Liberals and their media whores have had a crushing defeat today.
I've seen zero evidence that she IS covert except Fitz telling us she is.
I've seen her former employer come out and say she wasn't covert anymore. Etc., etc.
But I have no wish to argue this with you either, lugsoul.
It's crazy. I really want to hear people like Mark Levin and others punditry on this.. this seems so weak to me.. I admit I'm no expert, but it seems pathetic.
Maybe its time that some here face reality. Despite the media's disgusting glee and efforts to distort this as big as possible (par for the course), this is still bad. It does appear at first glance that Libby was caught in purposeful lies to the GJ and investigators, not just an innocent memory lapse. Rove is not at all out of the woods, and as long as this investigation hangs over him the admin will be hurting. Fair or not, it is guilt by association, and no one can conclusively and honestly state that he didn't also either mislead or conspire to mislead. I sure hope not, but we don't yet know. And like it or not, fair or not, many of these leaks over months and months did prove true, not ridiculous.
It isn't good, it also isn't the end of the world, and there is a lot to play out. We just know a speck of the facts. But an approach that is pollyanish or desparate denial isn't wise.

Actually the indictments against Libby are no surprise after all the leaks -- the number of indictments may be though -- the surprise to me is that Rove was not indicated and IMHO never will be.
Miller going to prison never made sense and now Libby with Miller makes no sense. There is a story we are not getting here.
Oh, I'm not giving Libby a pass for lying to a GJ.
What I don't get is why Hillary got a pass. Berger got a pass.
Okay, Berger made a deal. Maybe Libby could too.
But when Berger was indicted, did we hear much from the press? I don't think CNN even reported it.

But we don't know if he lied or not. That is the accusation. It has to be proven. I do agree that nobody in the White House should talk to the lying press. If they wanted to dispute Wilson, then have a press conference. All this leaking to reporters is so stupid, anyway.
