I suggest you read Cannon's book on Reagan. It will help put the good things he did, and the mistakes he made, in perspective.
Now, try to have a good day.

I need to take ,my granddaughter home for lunch and a nap. I have no computer there, so I won't be back until this evening.
Perhaps it's just as well. My blood pressure could use the break!
See you later.

In battle, when opposing armies are mounted cavalry, the number of horses is equal to the number of horses *rses.
Seems it is also true for FReepers;)

. . . if you think abortion is the ONLY issue facing the SC...you are way off base. It is the MOST important domestic issue, and if they can't even get that one right, good luck with the rest. The woman was first of all underqualified. Second of all she is PRO-ABORT. You can't possibly know that better than Bush did. As someone said above, it is moot now - I certainly hope for your sake the next nominee is the right one.

Lindsey on FOX looking depressed. LOL The "gang of 14" just had a defeat by hands of the American people. The appeasement coalition best start up its appeasment machine.
"Can't we all just get along?"

That was one of the ironies of this whole thing. Threads would be 100-1 to dump her, calling her the nastiest names and they would crow about how they were being attacked by the bushbots?? The dims use that tactic, it's called deflecting and projecting.

As a man I am horrified that my wife could kill my son/daughter for what ever reason she wants with no input from me. Marriage is a two way street and Abortion is a wedge that hurts marriage. That being said, If your view is correct and the majority of the population is against abortion then the Democracy should prevail and the practice should be outlawed by the ballot box not by judicial fiat.

There are republicans, too many of them, who will jump ship if it comes to a nuclear option vote. The nominee will then fail. I think we need to walk down that road to prove that point. Exactly. As much as I love the idea of JRB on the court, if she get's rejected, send up another conservative originalist, and another, and another if need be. In the end, the idea of conservative originalism will win, and that is more important that any one person.
To: Logic n' Reason
Well, didn't he already? I seem to remember that he put up a number of strong conservatives, (like Janice R. Brown, Priscilla Owen, M. Estrada, others..)and it took quite awhile for them to finally get confirmed? Like FIVE years!! Good grief!
To: Wolfstar
You uber-conservatives may think you've won, but you haven't. You want to get your candidates elected? You need the votes of Republicans like me to do it. And at least in my personal case, you have lost my vote forever Promise?
To: steveegg
We had ZERO indications that Roberts will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. In fact, how did he vote on that pregnant prisoner forcing the State to assist in getting her abortion?
To: puroresu
Thank you for your reply!
Kennedy's tirade on Bork was not truthful and would have been unacceptable to Republican voters. Only a Democrat could get away with such things.
The response you suggested, whereas truthful, would be seen by Republican voters as mean-spirited and thus unacceptable. IMHO, Tom Delay is as "tough" as Republicans will bear - and there is a limit to what he would say (at least, on the record).
There is a vast difference between the standard of discourse acceptable to Democrats and to Republicans. Again, I believe this is because most Christians are Republicans.
To: Vicomte13
If Bush tries another stealth candidate, or anyone but a known, proven strict constructionist conservative, there will be a civil war in the Republican ranks and it will be the end of the coalition. He's got no maneuvering room here. If he does the right thing, the movement will come back together at warp speed: nobody on the right wanted this fight. There will be a battle royale in the Senate, which conservatives will win if the nominee is good and the movement sticks together, fights for it, and disciplines Republicans who step out of line.
I really just DO NOT understand why some here are chastizing us for wanting the President to nominate someone we can all stand behind. Instead of a fight with the Dems (which we CAN win) he gave us a fight amongst ourselves!
And the presumption that the President is going to nominate Gonzales or someone MORE liberal out of spite. *rolls eyes* PUH LEEZE. What, is he in 4th grade? If he wants the party to stay together and pick up seats in 2006 - he gives us someone we can FIGHT for and stand behind.
