Has happened to me 3 times.
It is a natural sleep induced paralysis.
There is stuff all over the internet about it.

Many Joiseyites know that the Devil has taken up a new home in the Meadowlands!

Interesting. Last I checked, Satan was on Long Island. ;-)

Best Documented Paranormal event in US History right here.

In the early 1800s, John Bell moved his family from North Carolina to the Red River bottomland in Robertson County, Tennessee, settling in a community that later became known as Adams. Bell purchased some land and a large log home for his family. The Bells quickly made many friends and gained prominence in the community. John Bell acquired additional land and cleared a number of fields over the next several years.

One day in 1817, John Bell was inspecting his corn field when he encountered a strange-looking animal sitting in the middle of a corn row. Shocked by the appearance of this animal, which had the body of a dog and the head of a rabbit, Bell shot several times to no avail. The animal vanished. Bell thought nothing more about the incident--at least not until after dinner. That evening, the Bells began hearing "beating" sounds on the outside walls of their house.

I am disappointed with that "Most Haunted" show. I think its hokey. I used to love that show "Fear" on MTV a few years back.

We had poltergeist in our farm house; a ghost-hunter type person who came to look at it told my folks that this was a force field kind of thing generated in a household with a lot of teenagers, and since we had four teenaged girls (two of us 16, a 14 and a 12 year old) that was probably the reason for it. Two times after I grew up and left home I have seen that poltergeist work again: once when I was in the home of a boyfriend in Minnesota, when his dryer switched on by itself and then the door closed; once when he was at my house and my youngest sister was there to pick up something that had belonged to her late husband, when a small object moved straight off a shelf out about six or eight inches and then dropped to the floor. All three of us saw it. We were all in our thirties at the time but maybe that was a grownup poltergeist. Did you find out anything about that one of yours?

Nope, never did--but this was in an old, Addams-Family style hotel in a small, rural town in Arkansas, and I was ten, and not about to go back there to do any investigating (plus, I lived in a different town). This is the only time I can recall anything like this happening, but the memory is very clear.

No, wait--come to think of it, I can also recall a couple of times when I was outside and clearly heard my name being called aloud when there was nobody around to have done so.

And then there was that time when I heard the breathing sound in the empty corner of an empty room . . .

I think I'll stop trying to remember now.
