Makes school fun if they don't take themselves too seriously! It's REALLY a hoot when the teachers wear pajama's or dress "down" for tacky day.

It's odd you posted this about leg warmers. My daughter asked me for a pair this morning. I repeated her request back to her so I could be SURE she meant what I thought she meant. Yes, she means leg warmers ala Flashdance. I could not help but explain to her that leg warmers were a horrible fashion item in the 80's and would still be today. Please tell me legwarmers aren't making a comeback...

This is hardly new. Kids have been doing this for at least five or six years. I agree, pick your battles. This too will pass.5-6 years? I was doing this in the mid-80's.

That sounds like a homophobic remark.

How so?

I see your point. When I go to church, I try to wear nice, clean clothes, but I think people get too worked up about it.

I'm not plugged into today's youth, but it's about time, isn't it? The '70s look has been back in style for about a decade...

I'm not sure PJs are any worse than the oversized pants boys have been wearing for a decade.

Did you see this yesterday? Teen Poverty In America

"Some days you don't want to get dressed up for school. Like when it's raining and cold. You just want to be cozy," said Ben Lomond High School junior Elvia Escalante, 16.

Sure, since most girls are so poor that they have to wear their little sister clothes that show so much skin, they need to keep warm somehow. At least it takes care of the poppin' fresh roll look.

C'mon--the "slime" working at Starbucks? Where the motto is, "You don't have to be gay to get a job here... but it helps!"

I guess I wasn't aware of the sexual orientation of all Starbucks employees.

My teens are mortified at the number of girls who show up in church in what mine wear as underwear (specifically camisoles). Then these kids wear spaghetti straps and their bra straps are showing. They are constantly adjusting them as if one piece of string will cover up another.

FYI...

More than just one....just in the first row, 4 of the 9 young women were wearing flip flops.

Those are NOT the type of pjs they wear.

I know swimmers started doing this at least ten years ago, they'd show up at swim meets which are very early Saturday morning in their flannel pj bottoms and t-shirts. Now the flannel pj pants have gotten funkier and fancier.
They're kind of the new lounge wear.

"...trying on several pair of the freshly laundered pants, narrowing it down to one, and kicking the rest into the corner, later to be shoved in the dirty laundry basket"

I absolutely HATE rewashing clean clothes that have only gotten dirty because they dusted the floor and not been worn.

For me, casual isn't as bad as immodest. There's one woman at the church I go to that regularly comes in dressed like she's ready for a night on the town ( a hooker, actually); spaghetti straps, low cut, skin tight. The teens do the camisole thing. That simply cannot be condusive to worship for a number of the men out there.

You know, this reminds me of something that happened a few weeks ago. My lady and I were watching an older movie (could have been Fred Astaire, I can't remember) and at one point I told her that I wish top hats and suits were back "in style" today.

Sure, its nowhere near as comfortable as jeans and a t-shirt, but it just conveys a kind of respectability.

I think all this kind of lax-dress-code nonsense really came into style during the dot-bomb and just continued on from there...sadly enough...

My kids sawm for a number of years and did the same thing at meets. Considering how wet and cold they'd get, they really kept them warm and of course were much more modest than their swim suits. Plus PJ's tend to dry more quickly than, say, denim. LOL.
