There's a new fad of students -- mostly girls -- wearing pajama bottoms to school, and so far administrators are not making a fuss about it.
"Some days you don't want to get dressed up for school. Like when it's raining and cold. You just want to be cozy," said Ben Lomond High School junior Elvia Escalante, 16.
School administrators in Ogden, Weber and Davis school districts say the pajamas have been modest and there hasn't been a problem.
"There are worse things a kid could wear to school," said Ross Lunceford, principal of Hillcrest Elementary School in Ogden.
"There's a fine line there, and I think sometimes we need to pick our battles. Should we get into a tussle over pajamas?" said Eileen Nicholas, student and family services teacher specialist for Ogden district.
Some students don't think much of the attire.
"They may be comfy, but it makes you look trashy and it gives you the idea you can just slack off for the day," said Ben Lomond High School senior Alena Marshall, 18.

My daughter is in college (freshman) and is president of the freshman class. And she did on occasion wear pajamas to high school as did many of her friends, who are also in college. Don't be so quick to judge a student by their dress.

People in general are far from dignified and more childish in their behavior, dress and speech. It's not a good sign ... .
The ATTITUDES of the girls was my point.
Having survived a teenage daughter or two, I would venture to guess that the girls are not sleeping in these flannel pants and then just rolling out of bed. I'm sure there is quite a bit of showering , blow-drying, makeup application, etc, before trying on several pair of the freshly laundered pants, narrowing it down to one, and kicking the rest into the corner, later to be shoved in the dirty laundry basket :-)
I would opt for sloppy over sleazy any day.

The NEA has won. Education is basically non-existent in public schools in the USA.
At my office, when they first started casual days, they put in a dress code. No shorts or jeans, shirts with collars, that kind of thing.
One guy had a pair of pants left over from the hippie era, that looked like pajama pants--purple and green stripes, loose. They didn't violate any of the rules, so he wore them.
Pajama bottoms aren't obscene or sexually explicit, so I have no problem with it. If they want to wear them to school, more power to them.
My kids had that and several other "days", including tacky day, which was really hysterical. I liked to drop them off on that day just to see what the kids were wearing.

My Dad's best friend took his grandson to church. When it came for a moment of silent prayer, the little boy said out loud, "I pray that church is over soon". He got a lot of milage out of that story.
I'm wearing PJs at work right now. Of course I work from home, but still doesnt' change the fact I'm wearing PJs at work.

There was a clothing issue at our house - once. I made it clear what I thought respectable clothing was.
Isn't all the huffing a puffing about what clothes kids wear silly? I'm sure people for generations have been complaining about it.
As for wearing the 'correct' clothing in church, isn't all the world God's House? God made you naked and throughout Christian history people wore different clothing to church. Early Chrisitan wore robes and sandals (or togas). Knights would go in ceremonial armor. Frontiersmen would hold prayers in buckskins and moccasins. I don't think God minds what you're wearing (within reason; I wouldn't show up to church today in plate-mail) when you pray to Him.

My favorite school rule was "no all black attire". You know, this would keep kids from bringing guns to school and shooting their classmates. unreal.
Me too! Actually, if you just relax and enjoy your teenagers they are pretty darn entertaining!
