TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Police used tear gas to break up a rock-throwing crowd that had gathered to protest a planned march Saturday by the National Socialist Movement.
At least two dozen members of a Roanoke, Va.-based group that calls itself "America's Nazi Party" had gathered at Wilson Park just before noon and were to march under police protection.

"In addition to the media, we have leftist losers who desperately need the neo-nazis to exist, in order to justify their own existence. They desparately need the "nazis" around in order to justify their own leftist calls to violence. Where would they be without the nazis to beat up on? Since their own politics have so obviously failed, they need a nazi strawman to beat up on and to justify their pathetic failed existence"
Here is a link to information on the ringleader of these "nazis". Read carefully, and you will see this individual has strong ties to Communist entities.

This story gets curiouser and curiouser.
It's unbelievable that racial tension between a white man and his black woman neighbor could explode like this. Over a fence.
it was interesting to read that the police say that the original complainant was exaggerating and that the other neighbors were not having problems
I never thought I'd see an American give Nazis a right to free speech. I sure didn't think I'd see it here at Free Republic.
Obviously you would be more comfortable living in Europe, where the government will decide in advance what is "safe" for you to see and hear and say and write.
Meanwhile, however, we live in the USA, whose Constitution explicitly prohibits the government from passing laws that restrict the freedom of the press, the right to assemble, and the right to free speach. Nowhere does the Constitution say "....except for those nasty Nazis, gosh darn them, they don't have any rights at all!"
Contra what some people here are claiming, the BOR does not just "protect" our "right to criticise government". No; it restricts the power of our government to take away our rights - free speech included - no matter what good or bad purpose we put that free speech to. Yes, even "nazi speech" is protected.
The Bill of Rights says what it says. Get used to it. Even in the most liberal/leftist definition of what speech can be prohibited, these "nazis" in no way did anything to justify taking away their rights. When they step out of line and break the law (ie, issue actual threats), stomp on them just like you would any other lawbreaker. Until then, you have no case.
The real disconnect from "reality" to me was watching the footage of the riot on Fox News while they had an interview with a doctor talking about toxic molds.
Amazing to me, too. I imagine Europe thinking it's experiencing an earthquake with the American soldiers who must be rolling in their graves.

Of course. These groups feed off of opposition to each other. Commies becoming Nazis is of course nothing "new". I'd be suspicous of anything posted on Wiki though, especially anything political. You have no way of weeding out what is mere conjecture or deliberate misinformation. Anyone can post on Wiki, so it's not a reliable source. But still interesting.
A Nazi is just a commie who is racist as well.
Unfortunately what is going on here is exactly what I think.
Don't blame Szych for the actions of the rioters. They are not puppets.
You are confusing the complexity of information for complexity of the cause of the riots. Information about Szych is interesting, but secondary. Only the rioters can riot. They are responsible. Yes - it is just that simple.
They need to envision a different - legal - response to their angst, and act on it.
Care to "Google" L Farrakhan? Is a riot to be expected every time he shows up?
He may not be, but I am. And I'm telling you he's 100% right.
OK, but is it still printed on peach colored newsprint? I seem to remember being told that they changed that a long time ago..
A lot of the paper is still OK
And, you do have Jack Kelly writing a collumn, and that is a good thing...
what goes on editorially on the supposedly hard-news front page and in the editorials pretty much ruins the paper.
That's why the printed news is continuing to decline in readership. People still just want the facts so they can make their own conclusions. Maybe after some more years of liberal education, that will change. I have found in working with teens that in the past ten or so years, they no longer know how to draw valid conclusions from facts given to them. It's begining to seem like the younger generation wants someone else to think for them. Sad.
Yes, you are correct. You can't tell the front page from the editorial page. Of course, that's because the front page IS the editorial page. (That's why Jack Kelly is religated to the (so called) editorial page ;-)
It was funny - but on the video I watched I couldn't see the strings the Nazis were using to control the rioters - maybe you watched in HD?
In fact, the Nazis never even marched.
The fault and responsibility for the riot rest solely with the rioters.
Yes. They wouldn't believe this. I'm having a hard time believing freepers think a party like the nazis had ANY right to interfere. I'm still reading Googled articles on Thomas Szych.
I don't think I'd be more comfortable in Europe, thank you.
Speech is protected until it harms, darlin'.
What I'm reading in other articles seem to say he's the problem. I can't imagine he's lily white in this when his fathdeer refers to black officers as "gorillas with guns".
The front page of the peach section is still peach-colored, but you are correct, the section itself is now just normal newsprint.
This is about escalation. One man started it. Thomas Szych. It ended in riots. And AGAIN, I never said the rioters were clean or right.
Those words sure looked like rocks to me.
Speach was not protected today. There was no speach. It was silenced.
And now even freepers are trying to blame the violence on those whose rights were denied by those doing the violence.
you made up your mind hours ago before all the information was even in. All you know or saw was the riot and that is good enough for you. It is not good enough for me. I want to get to the bottom of the situation and I want all those responsible to be brought to justice and it may because I live in Ohio!
I have given you a wide berth because you are new.
That sure is a lot of "escalation". He must have written one mean letter!
