Krauthammer really surpirsed me a couple of months ago when he said that Able Danger was nothing and totally dismissed the officers who spoke up about it. I found that very disconcerting.

What has surprised and upset me is the new found knowledge that if you don't agree with the Pres. on everything he does you are now anti Bush.

I too am waiting for the hearings to make up my mind. I have been in the pro-Bush camp and tend to trust the President's decision. However, I am very interested in the hearings tocome to a real judgment.

What has been eye opening to me is the level of harsh attacks on both the President and Miers. Without a hearing in which to base a judgment, Miers was immediately attacked as a cleaning lady, a legal secretary, a church lady and a lesbian. Several Freepers immediately turned on Miers because they didn't like her looks and questioned her unmarried status. I was appalled with very personal attacks done to Roberts and his children by DU and KOS and I am just as appalled, if not more, when it happens on FR.

The attacks on the President have been even worse. If the President doesn't agree with them 100% of the time he is bashed here on FR more than any Michael Moore movie could do.I won't even get into the attacks on the First Lady.

It has been a very eye opening week. Some on the right are as out of control as those on the left. I really thought the right had more class and more intelligence.

I think Rush's addiction to golf in cigars...probably occurs in direct proportion to his unhappiness in his marriages...

He is not married right now...hence, less NEED of golf and cigars!!! LOL

I have reservations too and understand them. I just don't care how some of the Republican Pundits, have come out. Some not so diplomatic. I have to question what side they are playing on.

I'm still not sure where I stand with this appointment. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other yet. I just remember Christie Todd Whitman appointed to EPA by Bush first term. That made my blood pressure go up. I couldn't stand that appointment. That was a horrible mistake. Her true colors sure came out. That said, Bush is always underestimated. The entire situation is just confusing to me. I just keep reading and listening, LOL!. :)

the conservatives fired the first shots at Miers.

The "first shots" at Miers were posts here at FR (I read them) that pointed out she:

- used to be a Democrat

- gave money to Al Gore

- gave money to Sen Benson

Those posts (which were all true by the way) appeared within the first few minutes of her nomination. They are archived here on FR--I challenge you to read them.

It was only later that her credentials became an issue. I am sure Conservatives would have been fine with her if she went to Swinging State Law School if she had a better ideological record. But she didn't.

The first swing of the "elitists" and "sexist" charge came from the ham fisted White House arm twisting machine.

Laura Ingrahams whole 3 hour show today....was her taking a poll by having her callers say whether Miers name should be withdrawn or not... There were a few poor souls that tried to call in and say that she should at LEAST be able to go through the process... BOY 0H BOY....wrong choice...Laura would come back at them with insults and put downs....it was totally beneath someone who thinks they are so much "above" Harriet Miers...snobbery at its ugliest!

Why put up with it? Turn her off like I did. I've since found Tony Snow's show and am very happy.

A huge amount are lies literally grabbed out of the air, you google and research and either you can't find what they're referring to or it's twisted from ancient headlines.
They totally have the media in their laps... even AP and Reuters print mysterious sources they don't have and lies.
This is seriously out of control. If I were W, I wouldn't try to bolster anything... just let it ride and see what happens. This old info on M comes from a woman lawyer or a clerk in Texas (all I know so far), I will find out.
