Federalist Society Staffers Ready to Lauch 'Coup' on SCOTUS Nominee Harriet Miers
ABC News ^ | 10/13/05 | Mark Halperin

Posted on 10/13/2005 7:25:49 AM PDT by gopwinsin04

On the heels of Federalist Society staffers appearing in the New York Times and Washington Times on Wednesday, a Federalist Society member tells ABC News the following: (this Thursday morning)

'The Federalist Society staffers are ready to lauch a coup. They have started whispering awful things about Harriet Miers.' The staffers are now just reaching the point of wanting to talk on background.' (to the mainstream media about the nominee)

'The whispers started on Monday, but have revved up...They are willing to talk.'

Federalist Society staffers don't get to vote on the nomination of course, but if the whispers get louder from key Administration allies on judical nominations, perhaps some Senators may listen.

That could be ominous.

Critics should stick to valid arguments like unknown judicial philosophy and not attack the woman personally.

There are no personal attacks in the original post.

As a member of the Federalist Society I do not believe these alleged staffers speak for the organization. If they exist at all.

...lies, and rumors of lies...

I nominate Lazamataz for the vacant seat, if they don't put her on it.

Only if he is willing to put up with a campaign of LIES, and vicious attacks from the Know Nothings.

What DON'T we know about Laz?

Those who "back" her actually back the President. We are standing against the Lynch Mob and asking for a fair hearing without the rumour, lies and innuendo. Leave those tactics to the RATS.

After re-reading the Today Show transcript I think you are correct.

Laura was speaking only for herself and was backed into a corner with a slimy question from Matt Lauer. I'll never forget Hillary went on that show to lauch her attacks on Ken Starr

What DON'T we know about Laz?

A True Story

By

Lazamataz

It was dark. Things moved fast. I could never say for sure who was ultimately responsible, but I always suspected the dwarf. There was something about his sinister grin that unnerved me.

I saw a shape move through the fog. Moving stealthily, I unholstered my shoulder-weapon. In the distance, a dog barked...

Laz, come baaaaaaaaccccccckkkkkkkkkkk.......

"Just don't say that Laura Bush is a toady liberal liar for suggesting it might be happening in response to a pushy question from a leftist. "

Laura Bush is a toady liberal liar!

Tempt not the weak of will, lest they befoul the pool with their childlike taunts.

I think that's in the Bible somewhere.

Blaming Laura Bush for the behavior of David Frum, Ann Coulter, and Bill Kristol is stretching it a bit, don't you think?

Yes!

What I am most concerned about is if she sits there and says "I can't answer that question" over and over and over and all the Senators vote to confirm for the same insane reasons given by her supporters.

Let me ask you something -

What if the hearing go forward and she answers all the questions the same way Ginsburg did? Is that good enough for you?

Could or would you still support the nomination if you knew nothing new just that you trust the President????

What has been gnawing at me is why do we not have a Scalia court and is Roberts the real deal. The nature of the Miers episode concerns me greatly and I can only hope and trust that Roberts will do us right. I suspect Roberts was to be either her mentor or controller. She vetted him and they may have grown close in the process. The degree to which this administration has gone to duck and weave prompts a slight suspicion. As Charles Manson said- paranoia is just a higher state of consciousness.Of course I am kidding.

If you add those who are unsure with those who are opposed its well over 50%
I do not understand why GW BUSH chose to appease the RINOS as well as appease the Senate democrats.
Then, when thousands (not hundreds) of so called "Right Wing" voters have the audacity to voice concerns & opposition What is the BUSH administrations response? Laura calls us sexist on a left wing news show, Bush acts pissed off and indifferent & fellow Republicans demonize us. Its demoralizing to watch GW BUSH bend over backwards time and again to keep his critics happy, yet throw his base voters to the wolves when faced with their heart felt concerns about the most important nomination for generations.

I agree with Laura Ingram, Rush Limbaugh & even Ann Coulter. I have to admit, I wish Ann would back off a tad on the venom

She did have a couple on the other side, Jay Sekulow for one.

I notice she hasn't had on her friend Wendy Long, who she had on a LOT during the Roberts hearings. I believe Wendy is on the other (pro Miers) side.
