Arkansas Mother Gives Birth to 16th Child By MELISSA NELSON, Associated Press Writer 8 minutes ago

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Michelle Duggar just delivered her 16th child, and she's already thinking about doing it again.

Johannah Faith Duggar was born at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and weighed 7 pounds, 6.5 ounces.

The baby's father, Jim Bob Duggar, a former state representative, said Wednesday that mother and child were doing well.

He said Johannah's birth was especially exciting because it was the first time in eight years the family has had a girl.

Jim Bob Duggar, 40, said he and Michelle, 39, want more children.

"We both just love children and we consider each a blessing from the Lord. I have asked Michelle if she wants more and she said yes, if the Lord wants to give us some she will accept them," he said.

The Discovery Health Channel filmed Johannah's birth and plans to air a show about the family of 18 next May.

The Learning Channel is doing another show about the family's construction project, a 7,000-square foot house that should be finished before Christmas. The home, which the family has been building for two years, will have nine bathrooms, dormitory-style bedrooms for the girls and boys, a commercial kitchen, four washing machines and four dryers.

Jim Bob Duggar, who sells real estate, previously lost his bid for the U.S. Senate. He said he expects to run for the state Senate next year but isn't ready to make a formal announcement.

Michelle Duggar had her first child at age 21, four years after the couple married.

Their children include two sets of twins, and each child has a name beginning with the letter "J": Joshua, 17; John David, 15; Janna, 15; Jill, 14; Jessa, 12; Jinger, 11; Joseph, 10; Josiah, 9; Joy-Anna, 8; Jeremiah, 6; Jedidiah, 6; Jason, 5; James, 4; Justin, 2; and Jackson Levi, 1.

What if they don't cost the taxpayers anything, other than public schooling?
If this is the same family I have heard of before, I think the children are homeschooled. I think she had written an article. Said she partnered up the older children to help with the younger children. I started do that with my little clan after reading about that. Reading about their life made me feel soooo disorganized.

As someone with a low pain threshold, the attention span of a gnat and the patience of a freight train....

I'm amazed and impressed...

More power to them.

How caffeine-deprived am I? I read the name Jinger as rhyming with ringer.

As Groucho Marx said, famously, "I like my cigar, but I take it out of my mouth every once in a while."

Eleven or twelve will be conservative Republicans. The rest will be liberal Dems. In a family that large, you're bound to have a couple rebels. Even if they're basically "good" rebels (employed, productive, but liberal)

We had a family who names their childen Freedom, Liberty Justice and "Furall" (the last was used as a middle name).

My kids are named Eenie, Meenie, and Mynie. We stopped after three, because we didn't want no Moe.

Mom should've gone whole hog and spelled it Jinjer.

Maybe the next one can be Jenjis (as in Khan) in honor of John Kerry.

The Discovery Channel did a show about them. I was amazed at how organized they are. They were (I guess still are) living in a 3 bedroom ranch house! The children are home-schooled; no TV; make their own clothes; shop in bulk; have a basement pantry stocked with food (organized to the hilt!); have lists of chores for each child on the wall. They pay cash for everything, buy used or do without and won't go into debt. I had to admire their tenacity, but I know I couldn't do it! The mother was pregnant with number 15 on the show. She had to have a C-section because the baby was breech. They said that happens when a woman has had so many babies. I can't imagine what her poor insides must be like!

PS: What do his parents call him when they're mad at him? That's what full, long, formal names are for! (As in "Did Betty Sue leave the gate open and let the cows out? ELIZABETH SUSANNA, WAIT UNTIL YOUR FATHER GETS HOME!!!!"

That Jinger name violates 2 of my pet peeves in the latest baby-naming trends:
Second, didn't "Ginger" originate as a nickname for someone named "Virginia"?

Hmmmmmm... rhymes with "Ginger"...
Thanks for pointing that out!
When I was reading it, I assumed that it rhymed with "ringer" or "dinger"

I thought it was a vagina and not a clown car....

That's not funny, and a bit offensive. Your comment hits a bit too close to home and my parents.

I'm from a big family (9 children) and would not trade that for anything in the world. We learned to do with less, love and respect each other and roll with it from an early age.

If I were Jinger, I would feel just a little resentful that the rest of my siblings got relatively normal names, and I got "Jinger".

I guess, if Jedidiah is considered "normal." At least it's spelled right.

They'll be great. I say more power to them. They are obviously able to afford them and take care of them. And they love them. That pretty much covers it, in my book.
