Arkansas Mother Gives Birth to 16th Child By MELISSA NELSON, Associated Press Writer 8 minutes ago
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Michelle Duggar just delivered her 16th child, and she's already thinking about doing it again.
Johannah Faith Duggar was born at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and weighed 7 pounds, 6.5 ounces.
The baby's father, Jim Bob Duggar, a former state representative, said Wednesday that mother and child were doing well.
He said Johannah's birth was especially exciting because it was the first time in eight years the family has had a girl.
Jim Bob Duggar, 40, said he and Michelle, 39, want more children.
"We both just love children and we consider each a blessing from the Lord. I have asked Michelle if she wants more and she said yes, if the Lord wants to give us some she will accept them," he said.
The Discovery Health Channel filmed Johannah's birth and plans to air a show about the family of 18 next May.
The Learning Channel is doing another show about the family's construction project, a 7,000-square foot house that should be finished before Christmas. The home, which the family has been building for two years, will have nine bathrooms, dormitory-style bedrooms for the girls and boys, a commercial kitchen, four washing machines and four dryers.
Jim Bob Duggar, who sells real estate, previously lost his bid for the U.S. Senate. He said he expects to run for the state Senate next year but isn't ready to make a formal announcement.
Michelle Duggar had her first child at age 21, four years after the couple married.
Their children include two sets of twins, and each child has a name beginning with the letter "J": Joshua, 17; John David, 15; Janna, 15; Jill, 14; Jessa, 12; Jinger, 11; Joseph, 10; Josiah, 9; Joy-Anna, 8; Jeremiah, 6; Jedidiah, 6; Jason, 5; James, 4; Justin, 2; and Jackson Levi, 1.
...reminds me that all of George Foreman's sons are named "George"...
probably more quality time than two full time working parents, I think they are lucky to have so many siblings, besides you would be amazed at how much time you have if you turn off all the appliances in the house and just focus on your kids....no flaming here but I can see both sides.
Yep, I watched the same special with my wife. At the time she was complaining because I was asking for a fourth baby, and she was under the impression that four kids were unmanageable (she's the oldest of two, and had no experience with large families...I'm the oldest of seven, so I know better). It's looking like she's only going to allow kid #4 if we adopt, but at least watching the Duggar's made her realize that big families aren't neccesarily a free for all. Quite the opposite, actually.
If she wants to have that many kids and they can support them without our help, more power to them IMO. I'd have to imagine that, after a certain point, having them probably gets easier because everything is "pre-stretched".
I'd hate to be the grandparents though...they must have to take out a loan every year to afford the Christmas presents :)
Everytime somebody here on this forum uses the argument that people should have children because we need people to pay for future SS I want to throw up...thank you for doing that for me today.

The show I saw was about the Duggars. I think it was titled, "Fourteen Kids and Pregnant Again." It was this family -- I remember all of the kids having "J" names.
Good for her!
My father was #14 out of 15 kids. So, I'm glad that my grandparents didn't stop at 13.
I think she even homeschools them. LOL They are not a tax burden.

That's just plain wierd. A woman having a child by another woman. Honestly. And an AP reporter, no less. That sicko.
Now that I've praised them, I feel safe telling an old Irish joke of a certain appropriateness.
It seems that Paddy's wife was having her twelfth child one night. The doctor said to him, "Here, Paddy, hold this lantern while I deliver the baby."
After the child was born, a fine baby boy, Paddy, still holding the lantern, turned to the doctor and said, "Doctor. . ."
"Yes?"
"It's about all these children we've had. Do you suppose it's the light that's attracting them?"
LOL! Same thought I had! Wonder if any of them look like 'ol Slick...
Love your tagline!!! ROTFLMAO!
Monogramming...well, there's a silver lining I hadn't thought of, I have to admit!
They ARE Republicans. :-)

Didn't see the show - but seem to remember reading about them before...

OK, well I saw a different special then.
Wow is all I can say!
"First are most likely to be successful"
You made this up. My little sister is rich and does not really work hard.
That's OK. I remember, when I was a Social Worker for the Welfare Department having client who was a proud 28 year old grandmother.
Meadow Muffin. That's a hell of a handle you got there.
>> she finally allowed me to join in 2005 on the condition that I don't embarrass her or the rest of the family.<<
That's one promise broken long ago, huh? Just teasing.
:^D
