Mark Levin and Dick morris have just debated the nomination on Sean hannity's show. After listening to Levin, I am more convinced that Miers is the one I want. Levin talks a good game about not wanting judges who will re write the Constitution. We we have a person that all indications show will be an orginalist. I think Levin is more interested in a fight than actually getting the judical "No" machine we need in the Suprems Court. I think Miers will be a solid money in the bank conservative vote. Since Supreme Court Judges only get one vote, how much more could Miers do? Maybe smack Ginsberg in the chops?
There is plenty of support here on FR...where have you been?
Geez, talk about ugly!
And, she looks like she just got up from the table sporting a napkin at an Italian feast, still sucking on a piece of spagetti
I think we who have worked so hard since the mid 60's to stop the liberalization of our culture are bitter. But I feel that Rush, Levin and now Geo. Will have sent a strong shot to the moderate Republicans that we are p.o.'d.
It is now time to rally behind GWB. I asked myself last night if there was something better or a place I could go in the short term. There isn't. So I am left, sadly, with hoping - not trusting - Ms. Miers works out OK. She has been nominated. Nothing I can do will change that.
To keep dragging on my complaining only weakens GWB, our chances in 2006 and 2008, honestly.
Tough call.
When I see the crap we have to go through with Supreme Court nominees, and I think how Ginsburg sailed through, I get truly frustrated and angry.
I've seen very precious little evidence she's an originalist.
Since I didn't hear the segment, I haven't a clue how the debate went.
Since you began the thread, perhaps, you could relate their statements without bias so that those of us that did not hear the segment can get a feel for the substance of the conversation.
Ive decided to sit this one out. Ive got my problems with the president on border control and federal spending but I'm just keeping my fingers crossed on the SCOTUS appointment.
Yeah, I've noticed. It's only the people who have known her well for a long time who support her. ;-)
Morris is a whore.
Hannity is a pimp.
Levin is a vice cop.
If not an imposition, could you relate the top points of Levin and Morris? I did not hear the sgement and I'm curious.
So far, the only info from those supporting her is that she was the first woman to head the Texas Bar Association and she was on the Texas Lottery Commission.
Wooptie dooo.
If that is all it takes to be an SCJC, we apparently don't expect much.
She is too much of an 'unknown quantity' in an era when we have dozens of very well qualified 'known quantities'.
Bush is selling us a pig in a poke. And when Reid and Shumer seem to support her, I get worried.
Hmm.. If Morris thinks it, that's usually a sure sign that it's wrong..
They both have annoying voices, but Levin's is much worse. I can't listen to him.
It's the "indications show" part that bothers people, including me. Bush has not always been right about people (witness Putin). Harriet Miers is a coin toss. That's not what I want in a Supreme Court nominee.
The way he explained it when he was pushing his book on the Howie Carr show was that their heads are turned by the DC social scene (which Scalia and Thomas don't go in for). I could be wrong, but I don't think a serious evangelical Christian would see much desirable in the good opinion of the DC social scene.
Please share these "indications" with the rest of us.
And sailed through with a 96-3 vote no less. Thanks to Jesse Helms, Don Nichols and Bob Smith.
And he should totally disregard those calls because not one single one of those people have heard a single answer to a single question yet. The pronouncements of people who jump to conclusions should not be considered in a matter this important.
What has happened to America where a person is limited according to the school they attended. What ever happened to the country that judges people according to their merits? We don't know her merits yet.
"The woman has no public support."
Not true. I saw a list of sentors who have already come out in favor of her. (Seems like maybe 18 so far or something like that). And of course... that included Harry Reid.
What?
Hate her?
Again I say what?
I think she is great.
To Schmucky Schumer, Dwight Eisenhower was Right-Wing.
