Ann Coulter just took apart President Bush's SCOTUS nominee on the air during her appearance on the Mike Rosen show here in Denver on 850am KOA. She called for listeners to write their senators to oppose the nomination. Wish you could have heard it!
Ann said - "Totally unqualified", called Judge Roberts "a 'dream' candidate in light of this nomination", mentioned "cronyism" over and over. Much more that I'm trying to digest. I called the station to see if they saved the audio, but no luck on that. Mike Rosen was just about speechless as Ann went on and on about why this was a lousy choice.
I agree with Ann. Huge mistake and missed opportunity.
Ann's choice, Janice Rodgers-Brown. Not enough intestinal fortitude in the White House to go with that choice.
Can't wait for Ann's column on this nomination later this week.

I'm listening to Ann on Hannity's show right now
The only argument she has is that we don't know anything about Meirs and the President didn't pick someone they know
And now praises Roberts ... gee, I recall she trashed that pick also
Sorry Ann ... you gotta give me something else to go on
Otherwise you sound like a 5yr old who didn't get what you wanted and are going to hold your breath
Oh ... now she is saying this was a revenge pick

Her point was that there are numerous other women-even some that happen to Pentecostal, evangelical Christians-who are much more qualified than Harriet Miers Why because of their Ivy league pedigree.

No I agree the rank and file members of the parties are very different. It is the ruling elites of the parties that have become interchangeable IMO.

Ann went on and on about why this was a lousy choice. Great... with friends like this we can stop just slamming our own fingers in the door for fun.
She's a shrill harpy.

Dane posted an NRO article where it clearly shows the Conservatives coming out with the long knives on Thomas.I'm as conservative as you can be, and my long knife remained sheathed during the entire high-tech lynching.
I don't recall any of my conservative acquaintences having a problem with Thomas either.

Ann's appearance on Hannity that just ended was almost identical to her Rosen appearance. The only thing she didn't mention in this latest interview is that "President Bush should be impeached" and joking that her new book that she is working on might be named "The Impeachment of Bush". Anyone elso who listened to Rosen earlier this morning can confirm this.
To: k2blader
I certainly did. She just over the top ridiculously slimed my fellow Texan Harriet Miers. I responded to the quote that was given, where she reportedly said Miers was qualified to be no more than general counsel to the Post Office. That is dirty, stupid and wrong. Extreme is not a bad word in this instance either.

Otherwise you sound like a 5yr old who didn't get what you wanted and are going to hold your breath No doubt she could do that and turn hot blue, holding food that's another thing, she maybe following Princess Di in that dept., IMO.

Well that explains your confusion. Ask some conservatives who also worked to elect the disappointment called G.H.W. Bush. Thomas has always been supported with the vast majority of conservatives - EVEN BEFORE he answered the charges of Anita Hill.
We have been paying attention a long, long, long time. We waited 40 years for this moment - and G.W. Bush choked.

The same Ann Coulter whose only donation seems to be $250.00 to Patrick Buchanan in 1996?
Talk about insane mediocrity!

Her point was that there are numerous other women-even some that happen to Pentecostal, evangelical Christians-who are much more qualified than Harriet Miers. How would she know ??
I just heard Ann say several times on Hannity's radio that she doesn't know anything about Miers
Look .. I'm not saying Miers is the best pick or not
Mainly because we don't know much yet
How about we take a moment to learn what kind of Judge she'd be before we throw Miers out the window??

What conservatives were sliming Thomas? I think it is you moderates who seem to continually cave in to the liberals and stab conservatives in the back.
Conservatives are dying to support Bush to the fullest extent. But getting hit with liberal fee spending policies - medicare drug benefits, pork barrel projects, rebuilding NO, on and on, conservatives are not too excited about giving the administration a free pass on picking an unknown quantity for the Supreme Court. And whether it is true or not, she certainly looks like a crony pick. His personal lawyer -- give me a break!
The liberals have consistently not been able to get their nutty views passed in the legislature but the courts have worked perfectly for them. Gay marriage, abortion, Ten Commandments, etal., would never see the light of day except for the liberal courts. We need a public dialog about this and we have 55 senators with an R next to their name.
Did Clinton get together with the Republicans before appointing Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a radical feminist and former ACLU lawyer? Of course not. But Bush can't even attempt to put up someone that we know has strong conservative views?

No, because they have qualifications that meet and/or exceed having once been the chairwoman of the Texas Lottery Commission.
I imagine you would have had an identical reaction if President Clinton had nominated Bruce Lindsay to the Supreme Court.
(Prolonged eye roll.)
To: Dane
Ann Coulter was just on Hannity, griping that Miers didn't go to a "top law school." It came across as elitist - and inconsistent, since Priscilla Owen, whom Ann has praised, went, I think?, to the same law school as Miers (SMU).

I used to be quite the Colter fan even though she hasn't a chance of ever filling Barbara Olsen's shoes. But anymore, she is just shrill noise and not real coherent.
