OU bomber had huge explosive stash; Mystery remains over suicide outside Sooners game
World Net Daily ^ | 10/3/05

© 2005 WorldNetDaily.com Local and federal agents were carting away what was described as a huge cache of explosives from the apartment of the 21-year-old student who blew himself up outside the stadium where 84,000 watched a Sooners football game.

Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., died in the explosion, according to FBI officials.

Investigators believe Hinrichs detonated a bomb about 8 p.m. Saturday, just 100 yards away from the packed football stadium.

Police were overheard telling residents it would take "several trips and could take up to 24 hours" to remove it all, according to the Daily Oklahoman.

A canister trailer used for detonating or transporting potentially explosive material was being used to haul items away.

Officials said Hinrichs' motive for blowing himself up Saturday near the Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium during the second quarter of OU's game against Kansas State remains under investigation.

OU President David Boren said Hinrichs was a student "who had very, serious personal problems that led to this tragic death."

Because of what happened, Boren said, the FBI had taken over the investigation.

Boren said the student had explosives strapped to his body.

Investigators would not say whether they believe Hinrichs intended to go inside the stadium before the detonation happened.

And that airplane that went down in Queens? What's the true story on that?

Short answer:
It went down because it was an Airbus. (That's another whole conspiracy story).

Detail: On that particular model of airbus, the pilot can literally kick the tail off the plane, and this is what happened. The pilot encountered a wake of another aircraft, and rapidly slammed the rudder left and right to counteract this wake. In doing so, he overstressed the rudder and it snapped off.

Most modern aircraft have computerized damping to prevent control inputs so large as to cause damage. Airbus does not have that as part of their programming.

Note: rudder movements are done by the pilot using his feet, hence the term kicking the tail off.

You can not get into a Sooner game without having a purse or backpack searched.

Same story at the University of Arkansas. And you can bet after this past weekend, those searches are going to get even more thorough.

Might it be that for once in their dismal lives the MSM is acting responsibly and cooperating with the FBI to allow time for them to catch co-conspirators?

Why start now? (said only sorta semi-sarcastically)

I'm glad he blew up when he did. The idiot. I have no sympathy for him. He should have used a rope.

The official explanation for the crash of American Flight 587 is credible.

The official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 is not.

However, this is a completely different case. Here we are seeing news reports filter in from local and "non-mainstream" sources about a story which is clearly being suppressed at the national level.

Why?

This is a reasonable thing to be curious about.

I understand that there may well be very good reasons for a news blackout on this story, but I still find the very existence of a news blackout on ANY subject to be a cause for legitimate concern.

The fact that this can be done so easily strongly suggests that this power can be abused, as it has been in the past.

I want to know why this news blackout is taking place, and as an American, I damn well have a right to know what the hell is going on in my country.

Anyone who asserts otherwise does so in direct conflict with the ideals upon which this nation was founded, and in so doing, becomes an enemy of this nation.

A people which is kept ignorant of national affairs cannot govern this country. Interference with the right of Americans to know what is happening in America is a challenge to the foundation upon which this nation is built, and to the Constitution I am sworn to uphold and defend.

This is serious business, and I expect to hear some explanations for this in the future.

If none are forthcoming, then the meaning of that will be grave indeed.

Airbus does not have that as part of their programming.

Seemed far-fetched to me at the time, but I understand that's the official explanation. Yet, my sister is convinced she heard witnesses on the news that morning claiming they saw an explosion aboard the plane, well forward of the tail. Perhaps Richard Reid was only the second shoe-bomber.

I might be on the verge of wearing tin foil. But I feel like I am getting the mushroom treatment from the media.

As posted on an OU fan site I subscribe to. I can't verify the accuracy but it is very interesting.

Start

I now know that the homicide bomber did try and get into Oklahoma Stadium, he was turned away because no knapsacks are allowed. He then proceeded to the quietess area of little or no traffic he could find, the buses obscured him partially and he apparently did not see anyone actually on the bus. The bus driver saw this entire event.

The reason he was on the bench was to remove the explosives from his bag and was in the process of strapping the explosives on his person when the bomb went off.

The second explosion that occurred was the police blowing up his knapsack. I was curious why there was an unattended knapsack in that area.

There seems to be no question he was intent on killing us, not himself.

The apartment complex he lived in houses a large muslim population and if you saw todays picture of him, he he was sporting a beard, no mustache.

Impeccable source on this info.

END

Decide for yourself. Suicide or botched terrorist attack?

That's my feeling, too. I don't think we want to stir up hysteria - but since nobody I have talked to today has even heard about this incident, I don't think that's likely! - but anything is possible and should be examined.

Very interesting! I have never read before that he was transferring the explosives from a knapsack to a vest.

Have you seen the new picture of this guy with the beard? My daughter called me about 20 minutes ago at the same time I was getting pinged to the picture. She was freaking out after seeing it at the school paper newsroom.

My understanding is that the picture is totally legit.

IMHO Botched terrorist attack but no one will go on the record officially. I should pull the picture overhere from the other thread as that picture has been confirmed as being legit.

Have heard the same thing from other people today but no one will go on the record.

Notice how nervous David Boren was yesterday in the news conference. I don't think he was telling the whole truth and was definately witholding information. Also, don't forget Boren still has close ties to the Intel community from his days as a US Senator.

I've seen it, but it's at a site we're not supposed to link to, so I haven't posted it. If/when I get home, I might try to save it to my website and link it from there.
It sounds like everyone who was in that stadium that night has a lot to be thankful for.
