Read below the title...

I have read the site. I do not see where it says she gave money to Clinton/Gore. I see where she gave to other democrats years ago, but not Clinton/Gore, as you said.

What would you say if you show up to the voting booth in November 2008, and the Republican candidate is "Cooter" from Dukes of Hazzard?

It would depend on what I learned about the candidate before election day. If I felt he was the best for the job, I would have no qualms voting for him. Now, Congressman "Cooter" at the moment does not share my beliefs, so I wouldn't vote for him. That's my job, to learn about the candidates before I cast my vote. Unfortunately, I don't get to pick SC nominees, but I do get to vote for the Presdient who will.

I did, he did, and we go forward from here.

Tell me again, why should I not support her so far?

It's also possible they had something on Roberts and Bush was forced to cut a deal...

Hecht says about Miers' judicial philosophy: "She's an orginalist -- that's the way she takes the Bible," and that's her approach to the Constitution as well -- "Originalist -- it means what it says." He notes that her legal practice involved writing contracts rather than tort law, so she was always looking at the plain meaning of the words: "Originalist." He also says she's not a social butterfly who will be swayed by Washington dinner table conversation: "She goes to the dinners she's supposed to go to. She's not on the social circuit." Look at her commitment in taking care of her [now 93-year-old mother] all these years. Look at her tax returns. She tithes, gave a full tithe to the church. Helps out in missions, Bible translation. These are the kinds of values she shows." Hecht and Miers "went to two or three prolife dinners in the late 80s or early 90s."

Thank you for that report. It's the first thing I've read that gives me hope for a strict Constitutionalist judge. I was initially disappointed in this pick. I'm withholding any conclusions until I learn more.

SHE DIDN'T CONTRIBUTE TO BILL CLINTON!! (Got that yet?)

THAT, is not good enough. I'm not saying she is or isn't good enough (for us), because we don't really know. But with the history of lukewarm conservatives on the SCOTUS, I think a firebrand is what we need. They all go soft once they get there, unless they are supremely confident that their views are correct. A little torching by the left only makes them mad (see Thomas), and further convences them of the insanity of the left. She stikes me as a Harriet Souter at this point.

Yes, but did she judge horses like Mike Brown? That would count for something.

Ah, nothing like seeing self-professed conservatives echo Dem talking points.

Mike Brown's FEMA handled four major hurricanes last year, each of which caused more damage than any hurricane during the Clinton years. He obviously had SOME ability.

Everyone who worked so hard in all those campaigns did it for nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Ciao Alessandro,

Harriet Miers 2004 Contributions:

Harriet Miers is a ardent constitutionalists from what I hear. Also, Bush will get one more SC pick before March 2008.

I what to know if Roberts or Miers believes international law supersedes the US Constitution? I guess I'll write Roberts a letter and ask him.

The PR rollout on Miers is TELLING.

Tex.Sen. Cornyn repeatedly used the word "conservative" as an adjective in describing her work on various levels.

The Bush WH is not appealing to the Dems...they are attempting to appeal to conservatives because they KNOW that this nomination is a no go with the base.

Yet, they write off the base like Dems write off blacks.

Republicans please have a backbone and fight,,,just once, for your alleged beliefs.

That's pretty far-fetched, and you know it.

Locally, when lawyers of a law firm donate money, the name of a partner is listed as a donor. I don't know what the law in Texas is or the custom.

Self-proclaim your *making sense* all you want.

Would you please STOP spreading this lie??

Why would they? They also are sliming her for being single and not attractive enough, so they have shown the nature of their respective characters. Continuing to spread a lie would be completely in line with such, from what I have seen.

Rush just mentioned it............I think a lot of us were initially disappointed because we 'wanted the fight' and we're not going to get it with Miers.

The more I see of her, the more I like what I see.....

I have info on the Texas lotto goings on. I'm not posting it to avoid personal attacks.

Ummmm ... would have made more sense to not say anything at all then.

Then, how would we know he's an INSIDER?

These folks don't like to do research or use their reasoning abilities. They simply like to use innuendo to slander others and jump to huge conclusions in a single bound!

Self-proclaim your *making sense* all you want.

No need to. I am making sense. You've providing NOTHING to back up your opinions.

I'm not the only feeling lonely today.

Yeah, you're trashing her for being a capable administrator for the president of the United States. And you're joined by people sliming her for her looks and for being single.

Lovely company you're keeping.
