Yeah ... I know how you feel.

Everytime the wife makes meatloaf I tell her I've got to go on a diet.

***

You have a point, but that's the way I feel about this pick.

I've just looked her up on Open Secrets and she has never donated to anyone but Republicans.

Actually, I was just looking this morning and there was a Harriet Miers in Texas who donated to Lloyd Bentsen, the DNC and Al Gore in the late 80's.

Go here

If that's what you thought, you weren't paying attention.

You were 'paying attention'?

So, I take it that you wanted someone other than a Ronald Reagan Conservative? Or are you saying you didn't vote for GW Bush?

How do you know that she donated to dnc and algore? If it is true give us some proof. We operate better with proof.

This is not a legal resume, but a PR release. I just do not know enough about the woman to know if this is a good choice. My spouse is already having a tantrum about the pick and Bush hasn't ven made it yet.

Sigh....

in 1987 & 1988. And Reagan used to vote Democrat too. What does this have to do with the price of tea in China. She's been straight Rep ever since.

I wasn't even old enough to vote in 2000, and I still paid attention.

You should've picked up on the fact that Bush isn't Reagan when he first said "I'm a compassionate conservative."

There were plenty of good solild well-known conservatives such as JRB, Edith Miller, Alito, etc. who were more qualified and who he could have picked, but instead he picks a personal friend.

Maybe if he tried nominating a strong conservative with a paper trail, the Democrats and RINOs would have eventually blocked the nominee. But Bush owes his election to conservatives, and he owes it us to at least try. But I guess he'd rather go with his good friend and his former personal lawyer instead. I consider this a betrayal.

Sacrifice to the Senate?

They can't very credibly burn at the stake two in a row...

Frankly I don't know what to think.

What bothers me is that it looks like she stuck to the dems while the dems were in power, then when the pubbies started gaining control ion TX she switched to the winning side. It sounds more like opprotunism than ideological change of heart.

She has donated to Al Gore and Lloyd Bentsen. Remind me not to hire you for research.

In that case, it sounds like she's the perfect pick for this administration.
